: Build Date 11/27/06 for a 2007 JGC SRT8?
SRT8UUP 06-05-2007, 08:35 AM Guys,
I have been working on this particular Jeep dealer here in NJ, and he stated to me that the LATEST build date he had on the lot was 11/27/06. Does that sound good? I know there were a few issues regarding some "minor" issues for the 2007's such as the TCM and shift hesitation, leading folks to drop $800 on the B&G Stage II (which is highly recommended anyway).
Question is, if I had the choice between the 2006 SILVER SRT8 with 2,000 miles for $38,999 or go for the brand new RED ROCK 2007 for the best price I have seen so far for $42,265.
I am leaning toward the new one, and the fact that it's a 2007 (more features).
Thoughts?
2007GCSRT8 06-05-2007, 08:45 AM Do what you feel is right. You are going to get opinions on both sides of the issue of this forum.
Personally, I always want what is new. That being said, I would wait a couple months and get a 2008. But if you have to have it now...get the 2007.
HoustonSRT-8 06-05-2007, 08:48 AM If all options are equal, I'd get the 2006 because someone else has already taken the initial decpreciation hit unless you just have to have the red.
SRT8UUP 06-05-2007, 08:53 AM Correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't the 2007 have more "features"?
I like the fact of a new vehicle, and the Red Rock, so I am leaning towards that.
What about that build date? Isn't that an old truck to be sitting on a lot since November?
Mango 06-05-2007, 09:03 AM 2007 hands down. They are identical trucks, and with the 07' you get many more TSB fixes already built into it by design, as well as the backup camera, painted moldings which look way better in my opinion. Obviously, you will get varied suggesstions from people on the site, so do what YOU think is best. Either way, it's win/win for you!! :) :)
SRT8UUP 06-05-2007, 09:11 AM Good deal. The backup camera is a real good reason why I want the 2007.
phenwick 06-05-2007, 09:12 AM The 2007s have the intergrated remote start and backup camera and some very minor trim change (front fascia color matched and I think changed tail lights).
As far as sitting on the lot, I would rather take that and have the option to break it in myself, over not knowing how someone drove it the first 2000 miles. I don't think 7 months is unusual for a new vehicle on the lot, other than these don't usually have the chance to go unsold that long.
SRT8UUP 06-05-2007, 09:24 AM Anyone have a later build date 2007?
2007GCSRT8 06-05-2007, 09:28 AM I think the build date would be the date it was built at the plant. That doesn't mean that it was on the lot that same day. It could take up to a month for the dealer to take delivery.
SRT8UUP 06-05-2007, 09:42 AM I wonder if anyone has a later build date than that? I am thinking, the later...the better, due to the TSB updates "built in" so to speak.
Mango 06-05-2007, 09:47 AM My 2007 was built 11/20/06 hehhe, so it rolled off the line a few days before the one you're looking at!! :)
SRT8UUP 06-05-2007, 09:51 AM Mango,
Jersey !!!! Nice. Atco is the best track in the state! That must be way too tempting to live that close. I bet with a good truck, you could hit 12's with real basic set up in that minehaft air!
What color BTW?
Mango 06-05-2007, 09:53 AM I love it!

Mine was built 11/06 also shortly after the assembly line started back up from being down. Haven't had a single problem except back for service for the brake reflash TSB and oil change. Had it like less than a week after it rolled off.
SRT8UUP 06-05-2007, 10:06 AM You mean 11/06, right?
phenwick 06-05-2007, 10:15 AM You mean 11/06, right?
oops. fixed.
garyhesq 06-05-2007, 12:24 PM I have an 11-06 build also. Just make sure they don't install the latest software. I had mine updated a few weeks ago and now it has the 1-2 shift hesitation.
SRT8UUP 06-05-2007, 12:49 PM Huh? Why Would New Software Cause A Problem?
jlandbl 06-05-2007, 01:14 PM What dealer in NJ are you working with?
SRT8UUP 06-05-2007, 02:07 PM Warnock Jeep. Tim Lohrfink is the salesman. I am playing Warnock against Sea View in an attempt to get the best price available. Seems to be working a bit....
07BLKGCSRT 06-05-2007, 03:54 PM 07 Build date is 04/07
EX-SVTMAN 06-05-2007, 04:03 PM Got mine in late april it had just gotten to the dealer and it was built March 12,2007

Definitely go with the 2007, for 3k it is well worth it just for the bluebook value difference alone, not to mention 0 miles, full warranty and the new 2007 features.

I never had the 5800 RPM 1-2 shift point or the fall on it's face during the 1-2 shift problem till I had the latest updates installed a few weeks ago. We are trying to figure out how to put the old software back in but does not look good.

my o7 was built 11/15/2006, i got it (ordered) for $41k, i refused to be chraged all of the "mandatory" advertisement fees (almost $600). told the dealer that i didn't see the line of customers able to pay the premium for the vehicle so sell it to me for my offering price or i walk and it worked for me.
get the 07, reverse cam isn't as good as my lexus unit but still worth it. heck, if you can wait get the 08 with touch screen, no touch screen on a nav unit is like trying to text on a cell phone; complete waste of time. that's the only thing i wish were different on my 07. good luck

On the 2007 Model, open the hood look at the PCM make sure it has the suffix AD part number, tell the dealer BEFORE you purchase it to run a P/N flash to the PCM with a Starscan/Starmobile to ask it what revision the P/N the PCM has installed. Make sure this is part of your purchase contract.
IF the suffix reads out AE tell the dealer BEFORE you buy it that you want the AD suffix PCM installed before delivery.
The AD PCM has better program than the AE. My vehicle came from from the factory with the "AD" PCM but during vehicle preparation the techs reflashed it to AE long before I purchased it
My build date was 2/07.

I doubt that a dealer is going to install an earlier version of the module than what comes from the factory. Has anyone else reported 1-2 shift hesitation problems with '07 models?
JNK328 06-06-2007, 06:49 AM Anyone have a later build date 2007?
My 07 was built 1/31/07

If you want to come a little south, you can call Kenny H at Buhler in Hazlet. He has an 07 silver one on the lot.
But, I think for the best price you should try one of our members on this forum...Champion Jeep. I hear he has great prices and delivers.
Any feedback from members that delt with Champion???
Just my 2 cents
Jimmy
SRT8UUP 06-06-2007, 08:06 AM Sea View Jeep is actually down south, in the Tinton Falls area. Do you have an e-mail address for this guy at Buhler? Maybe I will have a three horse race here in N.J.
And I actually was contacted by Champion Jeep, he is seeing what he can do for me. :)
Mango 06-06-2007, 10:13 AM I know you are up in Edison, and it's a hike for you, but you could contact my Salesman at the dealership I purchased mine from. Both my Dad and I bought our SRT8s from them, and it was a great experience.
www.martindealerships.com is the place. Call and ask for Stanley Moore and tell him John with the Black SRT8 sent ya. He's an excellent salesman, a true musclehead, and not out to rip anyone off. Like Don at Champion, he's a honest salesman. Very rare in this world haha.
Call them at 856-629-6833. Plus, check this out for long distance buyers:

If you're traveling to our dealership from more than 50 miles away, we'll pay for your gas and tolls both ways, and upon purchase we will buy your dinner.
Pretty awesome.
They have 2 SRT8 Jeeps on the lot right now, and get them in all the time.

SRT8UUP 06-08-2007, 10:25 AM Hey Don From Champion Jeep. Check Your Pm's, They Are Full!!!!!
SRT8UUP 07-21-2007, 09:10 AM Hmmmmmm, how come some people are saying the '08's are gonna be CHEAPER than the '07's they still have on the lot?
I got a great price, 3k under invoice from Warnock. Plus they agreed to install the Mpoar/Corsa exhaust on her before I even drive it away. Waiting until pay day (only get paid once a month) to put the deposit on it.
Any reason why I should back out?

I got my SRT on 6/30 from Westwood Jeep and before that I was looking at the same cars you are. They had two 2007 red rock. BTW if your sixth digit from the end is 5, truck was build in 06, if it's 6- it was built in 07. I got mine without navi and camera and paid $40,000. Last quote I got from Warnock was $41,444 which is exacty $1,000 below invoice. If they go $3000 below invoice, they should be selling it to you for $39,444 and that would be a great price! Are you sure you're referring to invoice, or the sticker?
