: Finally got my first timeslips
HoustonSRT-8 06-04-2007, 10:45 AM I'll scan them in this evening, but my best (& last) run was a 13.447 @ 102.5mph. I'm a little disappointed after seeing some of the times posted here, but I keep reminding myself about the temperature and humidity. Besides the basic "mods" listed in my sig below, I had the low-speed fan relay pulled the for the entire evening and coolant temps stayed between 190 & 195°. Also, starting with the 4th run (out of 6), I could feel the transmission starting to slip and hesitate. I wonder how much a tranny fluid cooler would help.....
If I got the correct figures, the DA yesterday at Houston Raceway Park was 2425, for whatever the means. :p
Edit - See post #10 for timeslips & vids.
SilveRT8 06-04-2007, 11:14 AM DA of 2425 only means that you actually got a Corrected time of 13.067@105.54, Congrats, as this is a Great time for so few mods!

I talked to the guys at HHP prior to the work I had done and questioned their opinion on the trans cooler. Josh said it wouldn't be worth, that he thought they already had one or something of the sort that the trans cooler wouldn't make that much of a difference. I am sure there has to be some benefit at the track.

I just installed an additional transmission cooler this weekend. I plan to do a full writeup with pictures tonight or tomorrow. I don't think you will cause the transmission to heat up to the upper limits running 1/4. I ran my Jeep really hard all day on a road course and didn't get an over heat light until the end of the day. However, from the temps people are seeing on the dashhawk just from normal driving, an additional trans cooler can only help.

Good work...drop to the 170* stat for another tenth. Corrected you are in the 12's then.

Absolutely use a aftermarket transcooler if you can.
If you see you information center say "over heat"..... man thats not good. My over heat light went on once while stuck in traffic in the burning sun for hours one time, my ext tranny temp gauge read 260+ when the information center finally said, "trans overheating".
You should not let it get hotter than 180-185*. Get that temp gauge so you can monitor live.
I have a second aftermarket tranny cooler now installed.

I'm only guessing the trans was overheating because it started to slightly slip & have issues upshifting towards the last few runs. I guess it's possible the the TCM was getting overheated and experiencing issues.....

Never started to slip or have trouble upshifting, the "high temp" light came and so I called it quits. The light was only on for about 1 minute, but that was one minute to long for me. I had the tranny fluid changed after and that was my reasoning for adding another trans cooler. This weekend I am heading to Sebring, FL for another road course event, I am hoping I don't see that light this time.
Inferno SRT8 06-04-2007, 05:59 PM Your corrected times are kick ass!
Nice runs.
HoustonSRT-8 06-04-2007, 09:02 PM Here are my time slips and vids. The vid of the 3rd run didn't turn out, so there are only 5 vids. Yes, I know, I was "asleep" at the light. It was my first time at the track with the Jeep and my second time at the track ever. My last 3 runs were launching at 1500 rpms.

Inferno SRT8 06-04-2007, 09:10 PM 88 degrees which probaby means IAT intake temp was high and killing you on launch and the 1.9 60's prove it.
Great runs for that weather!
