just ran an autocross at Altamont Motorsports park last weekend. It went really well. I am thinking of doing another one in July.
Here is a pic of the park. A lot of different configurations as you can see.
There were several different kinds of cars there & I thought I would see if you guys might want somewhere to play. James with his srt8 Cherokee was there. He might interject some feedback.

Site won't let me post a pic yet. if you go to altamontracing.com & click "about the track" you will see pics.

I've had mine on an autox course a few times, although I have a dedicated car that I autocross competitively. I'm a little concerned with the Jeep's rear wheel lift under hard braking and transitions. I don't think I'd run it with sticky rcomps without some serious suspension work.

The rear wheel lift doesnt concern me. My VW GTI ran 80% or the autoX tracks on three wheels. My major concern is your inside front, very little contact patch. I think on a normal road course the Jeep will do very good.. But the AutoX tracks are a bit too violant for our setups. Transitions are very harsh and often, Road course are smooth and sweeping.

I do agree that we need some suspension options. Rear cross brace, Thicker rollbars, Coilovers or springs. But overall for a SUV @ 4800lbs it should do well stock.

I agree that the normal tripoding that lots of fwd cars do is harmless. I'm concerned about the Jeeps rear wheel lift in combination with sticky rcomps and softish suspension. The Jeep feels too soft in transitions on street tires, I'd be afraid to have the additional grip of rcomps.

Coilovers that drop the vehicle an inch or two would be very helpful.
