A couple days ago I had to get my 07 towed into the dealer. I had to boost it to start it, then it just shutoff while I was driving to the dealer it shut off. I figured the alternator was gone, but they insisted that it was a dead battery that needed to be replaced. After I got home I noticed that they replaced it with a white battery. It's not that big of a deal, but my Jeep is black and I just think it looks bad the way it is. I called the dealer asking if they could get me a black on, but the service advisor told me that all the replacement batteries are white. Black batteries are installed at the factory, and you could only get a replacement in white. He went on to say that you could get a black one only if it was under warranty. I pointed out that I payed $200 + labour and I wanted a black one. He told me he'd look into it and let me know.
Has anyone ever heard of something like this? It sounded totally bogus, but this is the first Chrysler that I've owned.

Don't know what country you're located in, and if you are not in the states maybe the black/white issue has something to do with local availability, but here........and mine is an 06, the OEM replacement black one is Part # BB94R750AA. Retail is about $165.00. Employee cost is about $112. Don't know true Net Cost.
I have no idea what you got, but call BS on his statement about black only available if under warranty. It also appears that it was kinda expensive, especially it they charged you labor to install it.
I would definitely ask him to try to help you out a bit if you want the black one. Just my thoughts.
