: Lack of Info ??

After going to a few different dealerships around my area that actually sells the GC SRT8 it seems to be that very few salesmen know anything about the vehicle. Most of the places I went to, the salesmen handed me the generic GC literature that covers all of the models and has one little page on the SRT. I know there is enough info on this forum and on the internet but it’s just kinda frustrating that they really don’t know anything.

Any one else ran into this?
I’m not sure if there just isn’t enough info passed along to the salesmen or lack of interest?

There are a couple of problems:

1) Unless you were at a high volume dealer, they might get none to very few allocated and therefore have not seen enough to even think about learning anything about them.

2) You need a salesperson who is a car enthusiast because otherwise they will not take the time to research and learn. Lets face it. Most of the techs don't know anything about them either. A downfall of being exclusive.

Talk to Don at ChampionJeep. He has done great things for many happy Jeep buyers.

Isn't it amazing how many Jeep dealers are in the Pittsburgh area... and how few can even spell SRT?

I spoke with one that warned me too watch out for the gas guzzler tax on them! I didn't have the heart to tell him SUVs don't face the guzzler tax.

Anyhow, Bill Catrone's (or however you spell it) by the airport had several in stock. The salesman I spoke with did a pretty impressive job. I think I have his name at home. He's sold a half-dozen or so of them though, and was as helpful as I've found.

You don't have to pay the guzzler tax on the GC or the Maggie, but I took it in the shorts on the Charger.

My salesman told me to make sure I rotate the tires. I told him you can't they are different sizes front to back. He said I'll go ask the service guy. I laughed!

Exactly my point... Salesmen are no longer car guys. They just know the facts that the dealerships pump into them.
Its hard to find someone who truly knows what they are talking about anymore...

Should have told the guy that you would pay him in cash if he could rotate the tires for you ...

LMAO, That is so sad...

I think I shared this story some time ago in another thread but this seams like a perfect time to repost it. In mid '06 I was trying to locate an SRT8 in my area with little success. When my local Jeep dealer had two SRT8's that were allocated to them never show up I got frustrated and started calling other Jeep dealers in my area. Here's how one of the conversations went.

Me: "Hi, do you currently have any Grand Cherokee SRT8's on your lot?
Sales lady: "Yes we have a large inventory of Jeeps."
Me: I pause for a moment "I'm sure you do but is there a chance that one of them is an SRT8?"
Sales lady: "Well we have many different options available in the Grand Cherokee, were you looking for a V6 or a V8?"
Me:  "I'm looking for an SRT8. It only has one engine option"
Sales lady: That's fine sir but is it a V6 or V8?"
Me:  "Do you even know what an SRT8 is!?"
Sales lady: "Just a minute sir." I hear her ask another salesman, "Do you know anything about a STR package for a Jeep?"
Other salesman: "A what?"
Sales lady: talking to me again "Sir what was it you were looking for again?"
Me: Have a nice day. Click!

Unfortunately this is most of what you run into when trying to find one of these vehicles. It's no surprise that you're running into the same thing.
