: What sports car???
2007GCSRT8 06-01-2007, 06:30 AM So we all kinda have a sports car right now with the Jeep. But if you were going to buy a true sports car, which one would you buy? Yes, if we all had 1.6 million to spend, we would get the Bugatti Veyron. So let's say...a sports car under $150,000. And why would you buy the Vette over the Viper, or Porsche, and so on???
vinsane112 06-01-2007, 06:39 AM i woud definitly go with a c6 corvette Z06---mostly impart cause i own one--lol--my 21 year old nephew owned a new 06 viper for about 45 minutes---mostly impart to the trans and clutch exploding after shifting about 30 times--soo the viper is definitly a no no---this factored big into my decision and im really not a big porsche guy--not to mention i blew off a 997 911 turbo like he was parked--i also have B&B exhaust, kooks header, a dyno tune and cams--soo its a vette for me--its actuallythe only other american car i would buy--well with exception to the jeep but i knew what i was getting into with that--
kramsay1234 06-01-2007, 06:54 AM Nice choice of rides. When people ask whether to get the vette or the jeep, I say get both!
Couple of didbits - my neighbour has a Porsche GT3 and I love that thing. Sound is outrageous and looks to boot. They also have 2 turbos, one of them a cabro. But really, the eye catcher and the one that sounds like a race car is the GT3. I have never driven in it, but he tells me it is definitely not a daily driver. Wants to be driven hard and fast. More a track than a street car - if you think the Jeep rides stiff.....It is his preferred Porsche of the bunch.
Personally, I am envious of Fluff and love the RS4.

frankofiore 06-01-2007, 07:02 AM I personally would go with the Ford Gt. its got great looks, tremendous power and amazing handeling. theres nothing like having over 500 horse roaring a few inches from your head. and plus its long racing history helps out too. I've driven in the new '07 z06. dont get me wrong, its an awesome car. for its price, you cant really beat it. but the one thing that bothers me about the vettes is that they all look pretty much the same. you dont get the same "wow" factor pullin up to a z06 that you would with the gt.
if we could go over that 150,000 price mark, i would def. have to say the F430. that by far takes the cake. imo
QuikWip1 06-01-2007, 07:04 AM I would definetly pic a corvette ZO7, they are supposed to come out next year or so with styling hints towards the all new C7, coming with about 7-750HP and probably close to the 150,000 marker, this car should be sick
jlandbl 06-01-2007, 07:27 AM 2007 Corvette Z06
HoustonSRT-8 06-01-2007, 07:36 AM If I could find one, either a yellow '93 911 Turbo S or a '96 yellow 911 Turbo like this one (http://www.ecarlist.com/cgi-bin/showroom.cgi?mode=show&id=686&d_id=947). Personal preference.
Shaker 03 06-01-2007, 07:55 AM With that kind of money, I'd probably get two cars. One would be a 993 Turbo and the other would be a restomod, late 60's or early 70's Mustang.
If I had to choose only one, it would probably be a 996 GT2 (I think those can be found for about that price).
Eh2BRUTEh 06-01-2007, 08:21 AM Ford GT. Blue with a white stripe please and throw in twin turbos to get it up to 1000 HP like the one in Miami.
HawaiianGroove 06-01-2007, 10:26 AM I came from an Audi S4 before I bought my GCSRT8. A Z06 would be real nice, but I'm sold on the new Audi R8!
http://www.audiusa.com/audi/us/en2/new_cars/R8.html
Tough call. Gut instinct says Z06 but I'm in love with the RS4. 997 Turbo (or even 997 GT2) would be a good bet too but im not a huge porsche fan.

GodfatherSRT8 06-01-2007, 10:52 AM Z06,Ford GT(not mustang)& if I could go 15k over, Porsche Carrera GT.
Fluffhead 06-01-2007, 11:23 AM New sports cars I would buy for under $150,000 are:
Audi R8
Aston Martin Vantage
Porsche GT3
But, since I can only choose one I would go with the R8. If I had a second car or lived in FL or CA, I would go with the AM for looks and the GT3 for fun.
I wouldn't go with the Z06 b/c for that kind of money I expect more in terms of interior quality.

I got to ride in one of those.
haplain 06-01-2007, 11:35 AM Definately the Ford GT. My friends dad has one and they are literally insane. For the price they are unbeatable and later if you want to make some mods check out Joes Twin Turbo Ford GT videos CRAZY!!! I'm not sure how much the TT kit costs but I'm sure it isn't that aweful and when installed it will basically outrace anything in all gears (even a motorcycle).
MiamiSRT8 06-01-2007, 12:09 PM My all time favorite ride has always been....1648
blu04srt4 06-01-2007, 02:22 PM I'd have to say the BMW M6. Maybe cause i have one. It costs $110,000, its black with red interior, and its a convertible. Gorgeous car.

tawny 06-01-2007, 03:29 PM How about the GCSRT8's cousin, the 2008, 600hp Viper SRT10?
EX-SVTMAN 06-01-2007, 04:17 PM I don't know if this qualifies but I would go a little more old school I guess and I've always wanted a 1987 Buick Grand National GNX.
I think they are sick rides...and talk about mean looking.
Also love the Toyota Supra Twin Turbos.
Se7en 06-01-2007, 05:33 PM C6 Z06. Because I've owned two C5 Z06s and 1 C4 ZR1 and they were all amazing vehicles to own and drive.
Ford GT. Because there is nothing else like it at any price.
Ariel Atom. Because there is nothing else like it at any price.
EXTREME8 06-01-2007, 06:47 PM Ford GT!!!!!!! Ive had the experience of riding in a ZO6, Viper, and a GT. Absolutely none of them turns heads like a Gt. And like someone said It's way cool to look behind youu and see that SC spinning.
And what EX-SVTMAN said the GNX would be tight. My pops has a grand national thats SCARY fast. and blows the doors off many who dont know
Mango 06-01-2007, 06:54 PM AUDI R8 FTW!!!!!!!!!!! Someday I will have one. Some day...
scottiekay 06-01-2007, 07:01 PM I just sold my Jeep Grand Cherokee Srt8 with 6K miles to get a new vette converable. I don't know, there is something about a vette that is special. The jeep was great but does not have nearly the fun factor. I oddly sold a 02 vette convertible for the GC SRT 8, and went back to the Vette. Some might think im nuts, but until you have had the new c6 model you might never understand...... Anyway all my best to you guys.

Yeah, I know, I went over the $ limit. I'll throw a kid or two in with the $150K in order to make the deal happen.

sbkim 06-02-2007, 10:49 AM For sports car under $150k, I would choose from the following:
1. If I were buying now, I'd get the 911 Turbo.
2. If I can wait I'd consider the upcoming Lexus LF-A with 500hp
Alternatively, I guess I'd go for the new 600hp Viper and Nissan GTR.
Se7en 06-02-2007, 11:36 AM I might also consider the Ultima GTR :)

mrfreeze 06-03-2007, 02:35 PM i think i would have to choose the twin turbo viper
Str8Srt8 06-03-2007, 03:08 PM Fun Factor would be my biggest decision with the requirements of Cabro and Mid-Engine. If the R8 has a Cabro option, then it would be! Otherwise I'd ante up and get the Porsche. A roadster is a must have in everybody's lifetime. There's no other open road feeling you get from one.
blu04srt4 06-03-2007, 03:18 PM Pics. I would love to see it.

SRT8LoveR 06-03-2007, 05:46 PM definitely a ford GT
the car is unblievable it has everything from looks to power
hail the american muscle, wohoooooooo
c24p13 06-03-2007, 06:54 PM couple days agoi i saw a BMW M5 with a full exhaust including headers.
Or how about the ZO7, that was mentioned in car and driver, 700+hp
Krush 06-03-2007, 07:18 PM A couple years ago the Ford GT would have been at the top of my list, until I actually had the opportunity to buy one. I tried to sit in it and could barely get my legs in, and the peddles are located very tight right under the low steering column, extremely uncomfortable to say the least. Then I thought I wanted a GT500, but Ford is making cars for Japanese people because I didn't fit in the Mustang either. It's not like I'm 7' tall or something, I'm 6' 4", but I'm not part of Fords sports car demographic. And it's not just Ford, I can't get in a Viper either. I did drive a Z06, but it very tight and wouldn't make for comfortable Sunday cruises. I'm looking forward to the Import sports cars coming up. The new NSX, and new Skyline GTR will get hard looks from me. A few years back I wouldn't have even thought of purchasing an Asian sports car, but I recently took my sister to purchase a new Altima and while in the dealership I decided to jump in a 350z for kicks. I couldn't believe the leg room, it had more then the Jeep and was incredibly comfortable. I've finally come to accept that the Japanese are better at making cars for Americans, than Americans.
I'm 6'-4" and can't fit comfortably in a Mustang, you gotta be f'n kidding me!
Oh, at this point I have to go with the new Skyline GTR.
Go~RillaWRX 06-03-2007, 09:11 PM If I had 150k to blow on a car....hmm...probably a superformance MKIII (shelby replica) with a ford racing 450hp small block. Plus then I will have enough left over money to do heads and cam and NO2 on the jeep, buy a truck and trailer, and build a larger garage. I think the Superformance is going to be my next project.
cumadogg 06-03-2007, 10:08 PM be on top of the list:
http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k95/cumadogg/gtr_landing.jpg
From autoblog.com:
...Then again, the GT-R will come in three flavors, standard, V-Spec and EVO, so most of these shots may be showing the GT-R EVO trim that ups the car's aggression by a factor of ten. The translation of the article accompanying these photos tell us that the standard GT-R will start at $57,000 and feature a 480-horsepower version of the VQHRTT. Whether or not the twin-turbo V6 is 3.7L or 3.8L large wasn't mentioned. The V-Spec GT-R, meanwhile, will start at $67,000, while the top perfroming EVO spec will begin at $94,000 and feature a 530-horsepower version of the VQHRTT engine while shedding 220 lbs. from the car's overall weight through the use of lighter seats, ceramic rotors and the like.
