good read. i should have been more specific, what does a 180 tstat do. i see a lot of people have them on here..does it increase hp by running at a cooler temperature, run more efficient?? thanks in advance

The theory is that the lower thermostat causes the motor to run cooler which results in more hp freed up.

Our engines do run stronger when running cooler. When I raced mine at the dragstrip I picked up about .2 when temp guage was at 185* as opposed to 215*

What about taking the t-stat out all together?

No, because then the coolant never has any downtime in the radiator to dissipate heat.

Bottom line here is that cooler air is denser air and that is the secret. The denser the air the more punch we get when the fuel and the air mix in a cylinder and thus more Horse Power.Good Luck
