: Patriot and Compass SRT4?
FastJeepSRT8 05-30-2007, 10:15 PM I was talking to a buddy of mine at the dealership today while I got the brakes done. While we were talking he mentioned that Chrysler was planing on an SRT4 platform for the Compass and Patriot. Now I love Harry, he's been like a second father to me and has sold me 4 out of the last 5 vehicles I've bought. But I'm having a little trouble believing that Chrysler would do this with these vehicles. It would make more sense to me to make an AWD Neon SRT4 to compete with the STI and Evo. Has anyone heard anything about this?
OurZoo 05-30-2007, 10:17 PM Sounds ridiculous to me, but I'm sure a lot of people said that about the GC a few years back.
eh why not same platform as the caliber srt4 (which is the same platform as the new evo). still doubt it though. compass would be a real shame, thing is hideous.
blu04srt4 05-30-2007, 10:47 PM The Caliber is hideous too, but they still put the SRT badge on it. Chrysler will never make a 300hp AWD vehicle, cause that would be too sweet.

I agree about the Caliber I'm not a big fan either but can I assume you meant a 300hp AWD car? Cause the Jeep SRT8 is AWD and has 420hp. Not trying to give you a hard time just trying to see where you're coming from.
Jred22 05-30-2007, 10:58 PM The compass is so ****ing gay, and should never have an SRT badge on the back of it, and if it ever does, i'll run my jeep into the side of a cliff. No not off a cliff, into the side of it, going 155.
Ronin 05-31-2007, 05:33 AM I looked into the SRT Nitro before buying the Jeep...and it wasn't available yet. The Nitro would likely compete with the Compass/Patriot. I didn't think the Caliber was available available as an SRT model, just an R/T model, which would further crowd the elite SRT playing field. Just don't see all that happening...
FWIW,
Matty

Whoa, Whoa, Whoa! Easy there, Isn't that a little drastic... But if you can't get over it... Could I have your subs, your jet chip, and your upgraded lights.
Thanks in advance,
T-Time:D
I'd like to see an srt-6 nitro.
barho 05-31-2007, 07:55 AM This is most likely going to happen folks. It's been talked about before.

And I don't know about you, but SRT can make anything look good. If it looks like the Startech design, I think it's going to be pretty hot!

HoustonSRT-8 05-31-2007, 08:59 AM I actually like the Chrysler is trying to release a performance version of most of their vehicles, ala AMG. Now if only Chevy and especially Ford would follow suit. Chevy has made an attempt with the SS crowd, but Ford has just plain given up.

It's a shame really. Looks like Dodge is trying to compete with the Toyota Matrix/Pontiac Vibe.
Mango 05-31-2007, 09:05 AM It sucks that it's not Rear Wheel Drive...or All Wheel Drive.
300hp on the front wheels is pretty junky. My GTI is a monster to handle and can have massive wheel hop, and it's pushing 300hp 333 tq.
Street WK 05-31-2007, 09:59 AM I'm not a big fan of the Caliber... But this is hot.......... Lower it a few inches and DAYUM! I think there is a need for these cheaper prices performance cars, I don't know about you guys but I cant afford the jeep srt8, magnum srt8, 300c srt8 and charger srt8 and I would like a well performing car with a decent price tag, only fair.

Blown-WK 05-31-2007, 10:09 AM Not as bad as I thought.
Mango 05-31-2007, 10:44 AM Wow I actually like that SRT4 caliber! Awesome! Those things are going to carve out their own tuner niche market, I can see it now.
EDIT: I didn't know they were on sale already? That one has Pennsylvania tags on it....I think I know where that pic was taken too. Right off Broad St.
HoustonSRT-8 05-31-2007, 10:59 AM Hmm...that's strange. The Caliber SRT-4 isn't on the Dodge.com or DriveSRT.com site yet.
cumadogg 05-31-2007, 12:03 PM but any further info has gone into the abyss since then
FastJeepSRT8 05-31-2007, 02:52 PM I think those pics confirm Barho's theory that SRT can make just about anything look good. I agree it doesn't look so bad. I'd still rather see a redesign of the neon with AWD in an SRT package. Those big "bug eye" headlights have to go.
The Caliber is hideous too, but they still put the SRT badge on it. Chrysler will never make a 300hp AWD vehicle, cause that would be too sweet.
They make a 300C 5.7L 340hp AWD. I like the Caliber/Compass(though they are not for me), Chrysler has to make these vehicles to compete w/the Japs. JMO.
mrfreeze 05-31-2007, 07:43 PM that car actually looks nice but, the only down side is whats up with the painted brake's?

If you mean the red calipers, then I think that's a nice touch.

I think if it was a flashy color, then it might be considered rice, but red is pretty tasteful against the silver. Could you imagine a bright yellow?!

ya yellow dont think so,but it would be a nice touch to put some red brembo on there...

Sorry, let me explain what i meant. I want them to make a car to challenge the evo and sti. They have the motor, now they just need the AWD. I know about the Jeep, 300, and the magnum.

I agree, but i'm guessing they wont due to cost.
Street WK 06-01-2007, 11:57 PM Isn't BREMBO red?
OurZoo 06-02-2007, 12:03 AM That Caliber is someone "in the know" with DCX. It's not out to the public yet.
Street WK 06-02-2007, 12:25 AM ^ I wish I could get that position :)
ResumeSpeed 06-02-2007, 01:38 AM ...I didn't know they were on sale already? That one has Pennsylvania tags on it....I think I know where that pic was taken too. Right off Broad St.
September/October release as a 2008 model...
HoustonSRT-8 06-02-2007, 09:45 AM Isn't BREMBO red?
Brembo is available in a few colors, but those calipers on the Caliber are not Brembo. They look to be factory calipers painted red.
Street WK 06-02-2007, 10:09 AM Ahh, come Caliber release day time I might have to take one for a test drive.
