It appears to be a sensor and it's located next to the rear driver's side ignition coil.
I searched the part number with no luck.

I'm certain it's an OEM piece from the tape and connector. I bought the Jeep new, it would have to been sneaked on when I wasn't watching. :)

You can disconnect it and use a Capacitance meter to check it while its out of the circuit if its a Non polarized Capacitor Anthony. Does it say what value it should be in Microfarads or Pico? I am sure if you have the service manual that it would be in the schematic and we could see what value it is.
