Hey guys just trying to think somethings out. About 5 months ago i traded in my 2008 5.7 hemi grand cherokee limited for a 2010 red srt jeep. It was a great upgrade even though i loved the limited 5.7... after 5 months of having the srt with only 2,200 miles on it im starting to have second thoughts about this beast...reason being i dont get to use it enough or enjoy it enough. I cant drive it to work because it wont be safe parked all day in my yard at work I dont trust anyone near the thing and btw i work 6 days a week. im in the process of looking to move to Florida and im thinking if i move down there i will use it everyday as a daily driver but as far as for up here in NY its starting to turn out to be a waste of $800 a month including insurance a month. i have a 2002 toyota corolla as daily driver 34 miles to the gallon :D and i also have a 87 toyota 4runner that i restored and use from time to time . But i feel as if i stay in NY i am going to sell the beast and maybe look into a 4 door black wrangler rubicon black it out throw a 4in lift kit on it and 35" tires and call it a day and use it everyday and not worry about where i park it and not have to be paranoid like i am with the srt. what would be the going rate if i were looking to sell it? its a 2010 with 2,200 miles bwoody cai, borla s exhaust, mhp antenna, 180 tstat, 18lb rad cap, diablo with 2 tunes from Johan aka Toona, full front end and rear bumper clear paint protection, tints and also a brand new cover never used from California Car Cover. just want to get a feel to see what kind of number i would be getting for it as is or i can put everything back to stock and sell everything individually. all feedback and opinions will be greatly appreciated. thanks guys

the thing is half the places you take it always gotta worry about it getting messed up so if there isnt a great parking situation i dont take it and it stays in the garage.

Dude its just a car, a cool one but just a car. Its not like its a low milages 70 hemi cuda convertible. Pay your insurance and DRIVE THE SUCKA. I dont want to insult anyone, but its not a collector car. Use common sense when you drive and park it and what happens happens. JUST ENJOY IT!

+1 drive it and enjoy it. It will accumalate some battle scars here and there, but it will mature like fine wine. :D

Think about all the poor, misfortunate trailblazer SS owners that would kill to own a Jeep SRT8, and here you are hoarding it in your driveway, for only you to see. You should be ashamed of yourself.:p

Honestly though, drive it. Damages can be repaired. Shyt happens. Deal with it.

Well said guys. I was in the same frame of mind about several vehicles I've owned that were in mint condition and I was scared to even drive it anywhere for fear of getting a door ding or scuff. If I did park it anywhere near other vehicles, say at Walmart, movies etc., I couldn't enjoy myself for constantly worrying about going outside to find a ding or scratch :worried:. It actually takes the fun out of owning a sweet ride. My previous vehicle I bought new and it took more damage from the kids handlebars and cats jumping on it in the garage than it did from inconsiderate door dingers at the grocery store. Life is short, enjoy it and enjoy your sweet ride that 99% of the other drivers on the road would love to own. :D

My 2008 Roush BlackJack is #20 of 100 made, the other day I was driving out of my neighborhood and an acorn fell from a tree and put a ding in my roof. Whatcha gonna do? I cried a little.

Sounds like you don't enjoy it enough to justify the cost and hassle so maybe you would be better off to sell it to somebody who would.

If you are worried about gas mileage, it is not the vehicle to have and it sure is not an economy vehicle. But it is a blast. :D

Some people just view things differently... I'm the same as you and can't leave anything nice in a crowded or busy parking lot. So you think things will be different with a brand new black JK on 35s? I don't believe for a second you will be okay with leaving a nice $40K+ Unlimited Rubicon in a Walmart parking lot.

I would check out AEV conversions... order the new JK with the upgraded interior and have them install a 6.1 Hemi... then you'd have the best of both worlds.

As has been stated many times on this, and many other forums, it really is just a car. If, heaven forbid, something did happen to it, it can be repaired! I totally understand not wanting to mess it up, but you're never gonna enjoy it if you don't drive it! I must be weird because I like walking out of a store or restaurants and seeing a small crowd checkin' out my ride! Of course, I'm usually armed so if I did catch somebody doing bad things...;). GO DRIVE IT!

I'm not sure where you live, but unless it is NYC, you should be able to find a spot at the back of the lot where nobody parks?
Or maybe you should wait until you move to Florida to sell it, maybe you'll feel safer driving it down there.
Best of luck! Hope everything works out.

I would say you could get $40k for it..

It does suck not being able to drive it because you don't trust other people my mistakenly dinging it or something else.

You bought the car because there was something that you loved about it. Dont just give it up within a year of having it. Drive it and enjoy it. As for parking "stuff" happens, just try not to park to close to anyone and pay your insurance. There is no other car like it in the world and in order for you to get the most out of it, you have to drive it.

I agree, drive it and enjoy it.

People can't believe when I tell them I drive my jeep all year long including the bad winters. My jeep has been through 4 winters already and anyone who has seen my jeep can tell you I have chips all along the side rocker moldings from all the anti-skid/gravel and anything else they decide to throw down on the roads when they are icy.

Good luck with whatever you decide. But I would try and start driving it everyday. Maybe you will find the love for it again. And if not, who cares if it gets scratched if you are going to sell it anyways.

I am the same way, and I feel your pain.....

now after my SUCKY divorce etc..... it is my only vehicle, and it is showing wear with 2 kids,
but still looks freaking awesome and people can't believe it has 66k miles on it.

It is so fun & cool, and quick ...despite the SH!tty mpg.... I still love it.

...and have found the more I worry about small stuff, the more it happens.... duh.

good luck, and I do feel your pain... :-(

Yeah, I learned a long time ago. Cars are for driving. I'am at 120k. I always look at the mileage and think damn, but I have loved every minute of it. I am still cautious, but enjoy it.

You don't want to be the "GUY", you know, we all know him, that talks about the cars he has owned. But, when asked how fast was your SRT8, or how did it handle he can't tell you much.
Remember, so far in four years they have only made around 10K of this beautiful beast. Sure there is talk of a 2011, and an all new platform in 2012. Believe it when you see it.

Tony

Well, it rained everyday last week and the jeep was dirty.

I go to give the jeep its weekly wash on saturday and notice someone dinged my rear passenger side door with their car door.

I have a 3 inch by 1 inch white scrape in my black paint job on the rear door where it comes out to match the wheelwell. And another scrape where it hit my door handle.

Am I pissed about it. Hell ya I'm pissed But it is what it is. I buffed most of it out but I do see a small dent.

I'm just going to wait until spring when I do my full paint correction and take it from there.

The point is, it is just a car and things will happen to it no matter how careful we are.

I'm glad to see you guys go out there and really USE your Jeeps. I crack up every time I read, "I took the rig out for a weekend drive" or "I've only got 3k miles on the beast and I've had her for over a year". WTF?! Drive your Jeep you a-holes! (All in love) I have almost 70k miles on my rig and I loved every bit of them. My Jeep definitely shows battle wounds because of stupid dumb asss drivers, but there is absolutely nothing you can do about it. I treated my Supercharged M3 like it was my kid, seriously. I was so protective over it. It was immaculate. But guess what? I put 140k miles on it. So for all you girly whiners, go out and drive your damn rig. If not, sell it. It doesn't do much good sitting in a garage! :bangin:

I was planning on buying a Wrangler Unlimited until I test drove the SRT-8. If your used to the SRT-8, the Wrangler will feel SLOW and it handles terribly, not to mention awful brakes and a top speed of about 70 mph.

I've also only put about 2k miles on my SRT-8 since I purchased it in June, but I love it. It should be safe, I take mine everywhere.

The only downside to the SRT-8 so far is the terrible gas mileage, but it's a fourth car for me so I don't drive it that much.

DRIVE HERR, mines a DD because i have no room to park a second car (such as a old wrangler) just find out of the way spots to park, anything can be fixed, and you only live once!
