Has happened to me a long time ago on previous cars. The rims get scratched by the wheel track that pulls the car through the way. I NEVER go through automatic washes, havent on my last 3 cars...and wont in the future.

Why would you do that to your Jeep??

not everyone lives in the burbs, man. i live in a place where i have a garage, but it's shared, and washing cars isn't permitted. there are no self service washes around here either - the automatic washes are really all there is.

u have to find an auto car wash with a poly lined rail--i take my jeep through one once a week and my rims are perfect---no scratches anywhere on the car at all--its a pretty top quility place though---the first time i went through i was very hesitant and the owner told me if it scratched my rims he would replace them and since then they have earned my trust---ive seen people put bentleys and other high end cars through with no issue at all---saves alot of time i must say--and im one of the few customers who insists on pulling it on and off the rail myself--they think im a little odd

If you can't hand wash try a "touchless" wash. They have them at Sunoco stations in Canada. The vehicle is not pulled into a track (which are usually a tight squeeze for rear tires like ours) and no brushes or cleaning strips touch your vehicle. You simple drive in and park while the cleaning unit circles and sprays, soaps and rinses. There is a dryer on the way out by I usually hand dry anyway. Not as good as a hand wash (or as long) but pretty good when you are in a hurry.

I also am unable to do hand car washes myself, since I park in a garage. I was referring to a place that does hand car washes

Whatever you do DO NOT take your car to Bloomington Car Wash. They scratch the hell out of your car with their automated machine. Some usefull info from an IU Alumni:D

I use a high presure touchless wash that you pull in and the machine moves back and forth, and it works awsome. the onlt thing I have to watch for is the machine guide rails and they sit far appart enough to fit a dualy truck.

Well I just found out a buddy of mine is giving me a pressure washer as a wedding gift!
NO MORE PAYING FOR CAR WASHES FOR ME!
