: Best Place To Buy VP109??
Jpeyatt 09-19-2010, 06:27 PM Guys whats the best place to buy VP109 Race Fuel?? I have a marathon by me that sells 110 octane, but i just dont trust it.. I called my local track and the lady said they have 110 UNLEADED, The next day i call to see if they are running cause it was raining by me and i just wanted to confirm it was deff UNLEADED gas before i drove all the way out there and this lady tells me its LEADED gas:confused:.. SO, now i dont even wanna take the chance to go all the way out there (1.5hr drive) and find out they dont have UNLEADED gas.. So, basically i need to find a place that will get me 5Gal of VP109 by Friday.. I have my new race tune and everything, Just no gas!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Awesome! Thanks for the link. Had wondered the same question.
CentralTexHemi 09-20-2010, 07:39 AM Any place that advertises anything over 109 is going to be leaded VP109 is the highest unleaded race gas on the market. What Jim posted is good but not a complete list of resalers I had to do my homework and started calling every mom and pop pro shop, ATV/Dirt Bike shop and called every track in the state to see who carried it and got lucky and found a place 2 hours away I then went to a local speed shop and convinced them to carry it so now I drive 5 miles to get it :). Your going to have to play detective and call around and ask
jim383 09-20-2010, 08:09 AM Wade is right as i have only found 3 places close to me that carry it.
I just found a place that stocks it here. But it's $17.66 a gallon, and they sell it in 5 gallon containers. Right quantity for me at least.
wink
CentralTexHemi 09-20-2010, 08:52 AM 17.66 thats robbery and I would consider talking to VP about them selling it for that much the most I have ever paid is 11.25 and recently got it for 9.50 a gallon.

Agreed, but the pickin's are pretty slim up here. I found another place that wanted around $13 or $14 a gallon, but they had to ship it in from Texas. I'll probably just stick with the 104 for the remaining days this season and see if things change next year. That's just too expensive to even drive back to the staging lanes. Push me up to the tree and I'll start my engine. ;)

The VP109 is actually only 101 Motor Octane (109 research octane)- Im sure you know that but you would have to let your tuner know if you havnt... I initially made that error. It has super high oxygen content too- which is good 4.5% and unleaded. I tried some leaded 108 (114 research) from Tractech or ? something like that- not Oxygenated and It got me only a tenth in the quarter mile
CentralTexHemi 09-20-2010, 10:01 AM I wouldnt use leaded gas anymore your O2 sensors will foul eventually

I hear ya, but it was Friday 4:30 and no way I could get across town so I was stuck with what they had- all leaded... They even had some 118 oct !

I have talked to VP about the vender prices and they told me it the added cost of shipping it from TX to where ever as i pay 14.20 gal in CA and pay 10.20 GAL for SUNOCO 104 and it comes from PA.
CentralTexHemi 09-20-2010, 12:59 PM Thats just crazy guys Im just lucky to be here but still dont consider 9.50 a gallon lucky If I were to race every weekend I would be better off installing nitrous for cost benefit or going FI.
I'm guessing these guys get the 109 from Kansas. That's the main distro point for the green section on their map. At least Bandi has 104 cheaper than anyone else in these parts, and it's convenient. Though $7.50 a gallon ain't really cheap.

Jpeyatt 09-20-2010, 08:00 PM Found it today for $69 for 5 gallons.. I bought 10 gallons, Not a bad price considering VP wanted $64 for a 5 gallon pail plus $45 for shipping. I called Steve at RDP and he wanted $82 plus shipping, so i think i made out pretty good.. I had to drive 2hrs to get it, but he said if i set up an account with him he can give it to me for $55 for 5 gallons.

+1!! I plan on going that route very soon (as soon as Moparperformance ships my kit), but i wanted to see what i could get out of it with the race fuel
Harrison@Stage6 09-20-2010, 08:09 PM I know people are worried about O2 sensors and all but it would be allright for a race or two. Anyone try this new fuel from VP yet?
New! CHP™
CHP stands for “Crate HorsePower” for good reason—it makes 15-20 more horsepower than premium pump gas! While VP’s MS109 has long been the fuel of choice for crate engine racing, CHP will make 1.5% more Hp than MS109, as well as 4-6% more than E85. Because of its superior fuel vaporization, which improves fuel distribution and burning speed, CHP offers a ‘wide’ tuning window. Due to its oxygenation, CHP has to run 4-7% richer than nonoxygenated fuels, which also yields greater on-track protection against detonation. In addition, it burns cleaner and keeps water temperature low, saving wear and tear on your engine. It is not recommended for boost or nitrous applications, or for applications with compression ratios over 12.5:1. Bottom line - CHP offers the best gain vs. cost of any performance part you could put on your car.
