I FINALLY got around to installing my Pioneer AVIC-D3. I also decided to Dynamat the rear hatch area, and all 4 doors while I was at it.
I also installed the SIR-PNR2 Sirius Tuner in the factory location, using the factory Antenna, the ND-BC2 Back-up and rear-view camera, full-speed iPod cable, and ran all my power, ground and signal (RCA) wires to my rear-hatch area.
I ended up using the Scosche CAN-BUS premium interface harness (for retention of the Boston Acoustic system, for now), the Metra Navigation Bezel Double-Din Dash Kit and Antenna Adapter.
I "modded" the AVIC-D3 so that DVD video and navigation function could be viewed/performed while driving (for the passenger, of course) and I mounted the Navigation antenna in the headliner, out of sight since the factory Nav. Antenna did not fit, nor was the same type of plug that it is on the Pioneer unit.

That is simply awesome. I love it.
This may be next on my mod list. I actually did have an AVIC D3 in my possession for 2 days. I was going to install it in my GTI, but it proved to be too big of a pain in the butt.

Looks sweet! I'm way jealous. Sounds like you went the extra mile and hid everything. Nice! How do movies sound in your Jeep? does that Pioneer have DTS?

The D3 is awesome! I did hide everything... including all the Steering Wheel Interface controls, wiring for the amps, & the way I ran the wiring for the camera was super-slcik too.
The D3 does not support DTS, but it does do Dolby 5.1. Once I get my 4-Channel and Sub in there I can power the dash speakers off the D3 speaker outputs and use those as my "center" channel, and of course use the sub as the x.1 :)
I'll be mounting my power and ground dist. blocks tomorrow and making a template for my amp mounting.

my best friend (and TBSS driver) got one 3 days ago.... i like the D3's simplicity. my only beef was the single slot for navi disc, DVD, and CD... is swapping discs kinds a pain in the ass?
your install is really clean, looks factory... kudos

hey 2MCHPSI,
Did you connect the steering wheel buttons for adjusting volume? Does it work? is there a connection kit from pioneer?

Your local car stereo place will have all the stuff for you. My steering wheel still controls my volume, tracks, mute, ect...

Yup, what Silver said... you'll need 2 modules, the PESWIPS form Peripheral and the SWI-CAN from PAC.
However, I just sold my D3 and setup to my buddy. I am getting married and it's amazing how fast this wedding stuff add's up when you (and the bride to be) are the only ones paying for it. We are up to $17K w/o the honeymoon and that is for a "small" 200 person reception.
I'll probably put something back in there after the bills are paid for the wedding, maybe a Z2 or (by then) a D4... who knows. For now, she's back to stock.
