Some of you may know me from all the other boards...but I just wanted to make sure all my Jeep bretheren knew about this event!

Ok here is the deal guys. I have been in discussions withe the organizers of the Mustang Challenge Series at Moroso They contacted me to see if there would be enough interest to have a Mopar class to run a series similar to the Stang and Vette series that currently run at Moroso currently. Basically this is a monthly series that typically takes place on a Saturday night..it is a points based Bracket racing series. It is really nice cause the series has its own tech line and staging lanes and you will get plenty of track time, not like your normal test and tune. Not to mention the fun of the competition As a feeler we have been extended an invitation to the Festival of Speed which is an all day event to see if we can get enough interest to make this series happen. What we would need is a minimum of 15-20 cars to have a viable series..obviously more would be better. I would like to keep it to LX cars and all SRT8 vehicles so the Jeeps can run as well. There already is a sport compact class that the SRT4 guys can compete in and they are starting a truck series that the Rams can compete in...but obviously if we cant get enough cars we could open it up to them as well.
Sorry for being long winded but I am excited about the possibility of this happening and I hope you all are to.
So here are the details for the "trial run" event:

Moroso Festival of Speed
Saturday June 23, 2007
Gates open at 9 am, racing starts around 11 am, this is an all day event..there will be a class for us as well as a Mustang, Corvette, Sport Compact, and Truck Classes. There will also be road racing and go kart events going on throughout the day.
30.00 to race...which includes all day and also TNT that starts at 4:30
25.00 for spectators

Moroso Motorsports Park is Located In Palm Beach Gardens Florida...which is just North of West Palm Beach and is conviently accessed by the Turnpike or 1-95
Post up thoughts, opinions and questions...and most importantly post up if you can attend...as I will need to get back w the organizers regarding how viable this is.

Just an update on some of the rules for the Event.
The event follows basic NHRA rules:
All drivers must have a helmet.
All Drivers must wear long pants
All Drivers must wear sleeved shirts (ie no tank tops)
All Drivers must wear closed toe shoes

Hard top cars faster than 11.50 must have a 5 point cage and 5 point harnesses, and a fire jacket.

1 week to go.....I can't wait! Nice to know I'll be one of the few Jeeps there :)

Ok a little more info...

To those that asked...yes helmets are required as this is a sanctioned race event not simply a TNT.

Coolers are allowed just keep them on the DL if you catch my drift.

Due to the fact that this is an event that takes up the entire complex if you are spectating you will park in spectator parking outside the track ( if you have been to any of the Chevy/Ford Shows or Drag Race events you will know what I mean) and enter via teh spectator bridge. That being said ...only cars entered to race will be allowed to park inside the track..therefore only cars coming inside the track can have coolers, sicn eyou cnat bring tehm thru the gates...hint hint.

I am told they are changing the flyer to reflect the Mopar Challenge event.

Also they changed the spectator admission price to $25.00...it is only $5 more to race...so my suggestion is if you have a car that will qualify to race..ie a late model mopar/lx..then register to race...it is your choice if you dont...but that will get ya inside the track at least.

Update...
One of the members on LX (rt0id) talked w the Moroso Track manager and they said that they will let our group slide w the normal TNT rules for helmets..so unless you are under 14.00 you wont need a helmet..if you have one I would bring it but if not dont sweat it. However if they do make this into an ongoing Mopar Challenge series we will need to bring helmets in the future

Also I would like to reiterate that it is 30.00 to race and park inside the track..25.00 to spectate...if you have spectator admission you will be parking outside the track..so IMO pay the extra 5.00 and you can race if ya want but you will be able to park inside w the group

First of all thanks to everyone that came out for the 1st event!
Everything went great we had over 15 cars and I think everyone had a great time. The FLXC donated trophies for the top 3 best reaction times.
Winner in the Reaction time competition was
1FSt4DR w a .007
Runner up was myself w a .090
and Third place was Flavsfood

As far as the racing I made it to the Semi's ..woot!

But the finals came dwn to 1FST4dr in his Charger SRt8 vs LitiGator in his 300 SRT8..w Litigator coming out on top...1FST4Dr went too fast and blew his bracket time. Both of these guys walked away w huge trophies for their hard work!

We are very close to signing on a sponsor for this event and when that happens and we get the details worked out w Moroso we should have a full fledged Mopar series running monthly at Moroso starting July 21st....FYI all the future races will be run on Sat nights so the heat wont be a factor!

Lets get some Jeeps out next time!! We had a few sign up but none showed up!

Its coming soon...the second eevent in the Mopar Challenge series. This is a Bracket Drag Racing event for any late model Mopar. At our first event last month we had a great turn out of Chargers, Magnums, and 300's ...I hope to see even more great rides out there this time..and hopefully some Jeeps this time.
The event will be held Sat night July 21 2007 at Moroso Motorsports Park in Palm Beach Gardens Fla.

$25 to race and $15 to spectate...there will also be a Corvette Challenge, Mustang Challenge, and Truck Challenge Series going on that night as well.
