CMYKGUY 05-28-2007, 04:16 PM 1.) Hopefully you have owned and regularly driven a high performance vehicle. This truck is crazy fast but still a truck, it can roll over. 18 is pretty young but if you are in the armed forces, hopefully you are mature enough to handle this thing.
2.) Don't pay a nickle over invoice for a new '07.
3.) Be prepared to send a lot of money to the middle east. These things suck down fossil fuel like a drunk at happy hour.
4.) Headers are basically worthless since we can't tune the engine, exhaust already sounds sweet. There's links to hear almost all availible cat-backs. Just do a search
5.) Cold air Kits are narrowed down to the Volant CAI or the K & N filter drop in with a snorkel mod (again, do a search on that).
6.) 180 degree (or 20 more/less) thermostat
7.) You could go hard and super/turbocharge, bore/stroke, nitrous or other big moves on the motor but kiss your warranty bye bye.
8.) There are plenty of visual mods:
HID lights
Debadge
Shorty antenna
Billet grill
Tinted windows
engine dress up's
Alteza tail lights
Halo Headlights
SRT door sills
Rims? Yeah, right. Good luck
Racing stripes? No one (that I know of) has the b*lls to try that first
-And probably plenty more.
You will see your mod budget get sucked up by Exxon and Shell, but if you have any left:
I would get the HID kit for your lows, cat-back, cold air intake. Relatively cheep and won't hurt your warranty.
Good luck!
Headers are worthless? Inferno SRT would disagree...
Mango 05-28-2007, 04:50 PM First of all, he's in Kuwait so gas will be cheap.
Second of all, headers are NOT worthless. However, assumptions based on little fact are.
Enjoy the sweet ride, and be smart while driving it.
CMYKGUY 05-28-2007, 05:25 PM Let me explain:
Headers are basically worthless because of the computer/tuning (or lack there of) issue.
I'm hard pressed to find anyone who has thrown on headers without getting the CES light or had a firm strong feeling that they were getting 100% of the value from their $2,000 investment. I searched high and dry for some good posts and only saw one with a 30HP gain. He had a GSM ported intake, headers, phenolic spacers, and full catback.
If you want to do all that (which I will when a custom tuner comes out) then God bless you.
I guess the kid could throw them on and just wait for a Diablo unit to enter the market.
I'm just saying, it's a lot of money to spend considering these factors.
Mango 05-28-2007, 05:30 PM Headers are a track proven mod. The CEL issue is only with Kooks, and only due to Cat temps on one bank.
Not only do they improve performance, but they bring a whole new sound to the exhaust of the Jeep.
Do a little more looking and you will see. Also, look at the times the guys with Headers run at the tracks.
CMYKGUY 05-28-2007, 05:59 PM Forgive me for being a nay sayer but...
I can't find these links when I search. I must be doing something wrong.
I am one of the first people online looking for mods for any car I've ever owned. I always get a full exhaust; my Stainless Works headers come in for the Vette on Tuesday. I KNOW with a full tune I'll get 25hp from just the header upgrade.
Where can I find these links for the header dyno/track slip pics?
Me not so smart sometimes but believe me, I tried researching on headers and I can't find anything definative.

Headers are not worthless on these trucks, do a search on the other site and you will see proven dyno results and track times that prove that headers open these engine up.
SRT8LoveR 05-30-2007, 04:14 PM guys with the borla exhaust+CAI+ a ECU upgrade can i smoke corvette c6, my friend owns 1 and he's daring me.
sbkim 05-30-2007, 04:51 PM If you have the patience, I'd wait for 2009 when it will have 500HP + slew of other upgrades not found on 2007. We are talking one year away from this coming June to be able to order 2009.

No.
I dominate my own SRT8 when the wifey drives it and I'm in the Vette. She ain't skared neither. She digs in and knows how to launch. I still walk away from it. The Jeep is stock though but with your mods mentioned above, I would have to say it would be hard.
I know this goes against what I said earlier, but you could probably get lucky with some, um, uh.... Headers :D \ WITH A TUNE THOUGH
Depends on the driver too. And what the Vette has done to it. Bone stock vs. bone stock, no dice. The Vette has 400HP and weighs in around 3400lbs with me in it. The Jeep is at 5000lbs. 20 more HP won't get you there. Maybe 50
Just my 2 cents

You'll definitely get the jump. It's just a matter of how long it takes for him to run you down.
