srt8hotrod 05-26-2007, 02:26 PM JUST INSTALLED NEW FRONT PADS ,THEY ARE CALLED THE YELLOW STUFF.THESE ARE SUPOSSED TO BE A LOT BETTER THEN STOCK AND GIVE LESS BRAKE DUST. I HAVE HAD THEM ON A COUPLE OF DAYS NOW AND THEY SEEM TO BE WORSE THEN THE STOCK???I HAVE DRIVEN A 100 MILES OR SO NOW,SHOULD THEY BE BROKE IN BY NOW??ANY HELP ON THIS WOULD BE GREAT.THE BOX SAID BREAK THEM IN EASY,IS THIS TRUE OR SHOULD I JUST DRIVE LIKE NORMAL. <LIKE HELL> ,,,THEY DO FEEL BETTER WHEN STOPPING THOUGH!!! ANY THOUGHTS:mad:
NitroCrzy 05-26-2007, 02:30 PM I am having the exact same problem. My stocks were quiet right up until they went metal to metal. Granted they burned off pretty damm fast on the track. My 150+ replacements are virtually dust free but extremely noisy. It's embarrasing. I'm hoping to get it on the track to see if that will bed them in. I've gone almost 500 miles since replacing and they really sound like I might have gotten bad brakes.
srt8hotrod 05-26-2007, 02:36 PM so,,,do i need to get them broke in and drive it hard or be easy on er '??

If they are the EBC Yellowstuff pads you need to break them in very hard. They are a very high temp pad. I used them on my first road course event a few months back and it took a few trips around the course before they stopped squealling. They are not low brake dust though. They are considered a high performance pad so the dust is about the same as stock.
srt8hotrod 05-26-2007, 08:15 PM ok,i am dissapointed though to hear that. i bought them because they said they are low dust and great grabing power, well the grabing power is sweet,,, but the brake dust is nasty, they get black after 1 day into town and back, about 45 miles and that is easy driving.they also squeal unless you get on them hard. after all the changeover now i am going to put my stock ones back on.i hate cleaning wheels everyday!!!i cant remember cleaning the wheels before unless it was all washed,,huh,,, thanks for the info:mad:
anybody else tried the yellow stuff pads from ebc and had good luck???
FastSRT8GC 05-26-2007, 11:14 PM Did you convert over to the brembo? If not you will probably see a huge difference in dust, more that is. For us running the brembo's the EBC were a slight improvement in dust but the stopping power is great. I have not had the chance to really test them on the Jeep yet, but I have used them on other cars with great results.

Was sorting through the pad options just yesterday, since my Centric Posi-Quiets's grip is getting worse with age, though the low dust is fantastic. It never really bothered me until I towed a boat last week. The pad bite was totally unsatisfactory when towing.
My choice based on what I read, and feedback from FastSRT8, I think I'm going to give EBC 7000 series pads a try. They are a new pad, triple shims, guaranteed noiseless, 90% less dust than stock. The quoted friction # is 75% of the Yellowstuff, and since I now have confirmation that the Yellowstuff grip is better than stock, I would think the 7000 series will be close to stock (which would be a huge improvement from the Centrics).
I also decided to re-bed the Centric brake pads yesterday as well, even though I've had them for 10,000 miles, and I must say it has helped initial bite considerably, though still not nearly like the stock pads. My guess, go bed those Yellowstuff pads a couple of times over the next month or two. From what I've read, the Yellowstuff pad grips even better the hotter they get. I'll post an update once I change the pads (it's proving difficult to find the front and rear pads in the 7000 series from just one vendor, since it's still a new pad).
Hope that helps
srt8hotrod 05-27-2007, 07:33 AM thanks, im looking into the 7000 4+4 pads nowfrom performance brakes i will be going w/ those all the way around, they sound like a good pad, just as long as the dust is not tthere,,damn that dust!!!hate to clean wheels every time you get home!!thanks for info, will post on performence when done.
