So its day 3 with the 2009 srt8, I am in love with the power and the sound of the hemi. I love the fact that it’s a beast off the line. Nav is great the look and feel of the ride is nice.. But I am kind of disappointed with the seat. I took it for a 3 hour drive 1 ½ there + 1 ½ back. I actually felt sore when I got home. I know that it’s a sports suspension so it’s going to be kind of bouncy on the crappy Illinois highways, but I felt like the issue was with the seats more than anything else.
Has anyone experienced similar issues? I got the Jeep as an everyday car and I feel like its not very comfortable L My basis of comparison is my Volvo s60. I am honestly thinking about selling the car or trading it back to the dealer.
Please don’t think that I am a whiny prick. The issue that I have is that my hip is bad, and I have heavy arthritis from a 6 year old injury.
Is there anything that I can do before I try to trade it back to the dealer?

swap the tires to non run flats will improve the ride 100%

nitto 420's, Vredestein ultrac sessanta, toyo proxes st II, nitto nto5's. Theres quite a few threads that have good reviews on the tires if you search.

If the ergonomics of the seat do not conform to your back/hip, then changing tires will do nothing except drain your wallet. I personally think the seats are very comfortable but everyone is different. How about something as simple as a back support or space-age foam padding over the seat cushion? That's certianly much cheaper than anything else, including selling your Jeep back?!? Just my opinion. I had a hard time with back problems within 5 miles of driving in my other car and bought one of these and back pain was GONE! http://www.autosportcatalog.com/autosport-microsuede-wedge-cushions.cfm

I think the seats are very comfortable, much better than the ones in Yukon we traded.
I assume you are aware of the lumbar adjust? It is manual but works well.
Also I quit carrying a billfold in my back pocket a few years ago. Turns out the pressure from it was causing me serious pain over time sitting.
Maybe some sort of padded seat insert as another poster suggested.
Good luck.

if you decide to sell the front seats, I would be interested in buying them...

I found raising the seat up made it MUCH more comfortable. I love it. I'm a tall guy so the only disadvantage is trying to see when the light turns green

Off topic, but may I ask where in Illinois you bought it? Dealer or privately?

Thank you all for the replies. I figured out what it was, and to be honest I feel kind of stupid. I will do my best to make a long story short. J
The Jeep didn’t come with any floor mats so the dealer put a plastic cover on the floor. The plastic was like a big piece of adhesive saran wrap. The plastic was pretty slippery. When I would break my left leg would slide. My left leg is the one with the injury and just the act of keeping it straight when it wanted to slide caused the arthritis in my hip to act up and that made the seat feel uncomfortable. Don’t I feel stupid? I removed the plastic and just like that it felt like I was in a different seat. The seats are actually pretty comfortable I still think the Volvo is better but I am pretty happy with the Jeeps seats.
Glorysends: I got it used from Castle Buick in north riverside IL. I found it on cars.com
