happen (6.4L, ventilated seats, etc...) what are the guesses on MSRP? I am sure there will be an increase (duh!) but how much do you guys think it will be? The 2007 MSRP is $40800 and the 2008 MSRP is $41045, what are the guesses on what the 2009 MSRP be? I know it's impossible to know, but how about some guesses -

Unless we start building them in China or India,I think we are going to see a big increase in price by then. The US dollar is falling against the Euro so any MB parts are going to be ultra expensive by then. Gas prices are going to rise because Wall Street can't live without the Big Oil money. HealthCare costs are going to drive up US productions costs. And finally, with all the TSBs and recalls for the SRT vehicles (SRT has its own hotline now at DCX Customer Relations) the price is really going to increase. I wouldn't be surprised to see trucks running $45K for a base model.
Don't get me wrong, I love this truck. But one of the reasons is the bang for the buck. We all know we are getting a steal at $40K. One of the problems US Auto has always faced is the segmentation of their brands. Look at how great Acura and Lexus are doing. Instead of Toyota or Honda selling a performance line of vehicles they simply sell another brand. Premium pricing is the goal of all companies but Jeep can't do it so I would expect a big price jump under new ownership.

If they are going have a big increase in price, they had better have a big increase in quality!
If gas prices keep rising, they just may scrap the SRT line...or the Govt will make them.

I have heard the H2 is going the way of the dinosaur. I don't want the government getting involved but that is a possibility too.

Gas prices are rising because people like you and me would rather buy all the gas it takes to feed something fast instead of riding our bicycles. There's nothing wrong with that, but it's got nothing to do with Wall Street.
Oh, I think Jeep SRT prices will go up for the same reason... the demand is there!

Light Sweet Crude is roughly $10 - $12 cheaper this year than last year but prices are higher at the pump this year. This is price gouging and it is good for Wall Street. Nothing to do with supply I am afraid.
Addtionally, as I mentioned earlier, the dollar is weak against the Euro and oil is traded in dollars so it costs more now for that very reason.
There is money being made and nobody wants to turn off the spiget.
