So I went to the a body shop today to get an estimate for the accident that happened last week. So he's looking over the car and sees the exhaust and says "wow, nice what size engine?" I said 6.1, he ask me Diesel?

So we go back in and he goes back out and says I don't know which wheel this is we have two to choose from one $300 and one $1500. I say $1500. He co-worker comes over and says is that an Envoy?
Then they come over and others come also. They're like OOOHH SRT-8 I haven't seen one before. Nice...

One guy starts talking to me about his Tahoe with 22's and ask me if I think the SRT-8 Handles better than his Tahoe

Funny story that I had to tell you all...

BTW of course I'm NOT taking my car back...

I've discovered that most people who work in body shops, have NO CLUE about performance vehicles. While driving around to find a shop to paint our 67' Vette...my dad and I were disgusted with the knowledge of these so called "car people."

I have a small ding on the back of my SRT8 from a shopping cart, and took it to a few shops in south jersey for estimates. They were as knowledgable as the people the OP mentioned. One guy tried to tell me I'd need an entire new rear door hatch, like I'm some fool. Another guy tried to tell me that all of the panels on my truck were crooked. !?! I said "....alright thanks for the help..I have to leave now."

Reminds me of my first visit to my Chrysler Jeep dealer looking for my missing door sill. Went to the parts department to order a door sill and he asked what what kind of vehicle I had. I said a Grand Cherokee SRT8. He said "Never heard of that one". This was November 2006. Needless to say I don't rely on them for expert opinion. They do not have a single SRT badged vehicle on their lot right now.:(

Man, I know what you guys mean....every dork that sees my truck always asks.... did you put rims on it?....or did it come like that?
It's like people don't have electricity or access to the internet....
My new boss says the other day... and I quote..." Oh you don't have to pop the hood cause I wouldn't know what I'm looking at anyway" ...This from an M3 driver?
Morons I say!

Mango - you might have already looked into this, or you might have paint damage in addition to the dent fromt the shopping cart, but if you haven't, then check out a PDR (Paintless Dent Removal) guy. Lots of them in the states and they are super talented at taking out dents without a trace if you get a good one. Shouldn't cost more than $75.

Yeah thanks Kramsay, I'm trying to find a reliable PDR guy here in South Joisey. My dealer was supposed to get back to me about it but never did... :(

I printed up a bunch of these that I keep in the Jeep and when someone starts asking stupid questions I just hand them one. http://www.wkjeeps.com/brochures/2006_wk_srt_flyer.pdf
