: I've been ripped off *eBay strikes again*
Mango 05-23-2007, 04:20 PM I purchased a Navigation Head unit for my GTI, and the auction on eBay clearly showed the model I need for $950. So I bought it, and the guy sends me a EUROPEAN navigation headunit, the RNS-S2. I need the RNS-MFD2.
In his auction, the picture clearly showed "RNS-MFD2" on the navigation unit.
Now I'm screwed....it will not work. I've disputed the paypal charges, what else can I do to get this resolved??
Here is a pic of the "System Information"

FastSRT8GC 05-23-2007, 04:36 PM Possible reflash?
Dude that suck, I also have had this happen. With a laptop i sold. :( :( :(
El Jefe 05-23-2007, 04:36 PM Did it say in his listing which model it was? If so, then contact ebay. They should be able to get your money back
Ronin 05-23-2007, 05:27 PM Mango,
I was gonna suggest moving to Europe ;) !
I hope you get it squared away though, getting hosed on eBay blows goats, and the Pay Pal dispute process can take a while...
Good luck,
Matty
Street WK 05-23-2007, 06:01 PM Paypal will take care of it. Escalate it to a claim and you'll get your money back. Good luck buddy!
Mango 05-23-2007, 07:16 PM I'm friggen sick to my stomach thinking about this. I waited to long to be able to get the Navi...only to have this happen.
Still no reply from the seller.
Mango 05-24-2007, 05:39 AM So this joker responds to me finally, stating that there is NO refund and that it didn't work..because I had it on "mute." Does he think I'm an idiot!??! Of course I checked to make sure it was not muted, and I clearly stated to him that it WAS NOT THE CORRECT US MODEL. He continues to tell me it will work fine, and sent me pictures of it installed in cars. I can't tell if they are even US or EURO spec cars. This guy is nuts.... he was a powerseller too which is meaningless it seems. I feel so violated....
kramsay1234 05-24-2007, 05:47 AM Thats brutal. Fortunately for me I haven't been burned on e-bay....yet....but I am interested to see what Paypal will do for you and how long it takes to get your money back. I have always had this wonder that after you paypal someone some money for something they posted a picture of and that you have never actually seen, what happens if the delivery never shows at all, or the item does not come as described??
HoustonSRT-8 05-24-2007, 07:52 AM Do we need to get a posse together?
Fluffhead 05-24-2007, 09:00 AM Check out http://www.navplus.us that is where all the Audi guys go for help with the RNS nav units. If the unit fits and all the harnesses hook up you should be able to get it to work.
EX-SVTMAN 05-24-2007, 09:10 AM I got ripped off once by a guy on ebay...never shipped the merchandise...paypal took about a week but I got my money back. Hopefully you get your money from that assh*ole.
EX
PS- If you need a posse...I'm retired but I'll suit back up. You can take the boy out of da hood....but.....you know the rest.
MiamiSRT8 05-24-2007, 09:42 AM This past x-mas a got jerked around on a Wii and paypal came through.
Paypal and Ebay(same company) have buyer protection claims procedure. Just have to provide them (paypal) ALL the info, listing detials and conversations. Dont hesitate to email them the fact that you tried to work it out with the seller but he / it refused to cooperate.
Shouldn't take much to prove the very old "bait and switch" played on you. Just follow up on your end and ask for the status of their investigation, you will be advised when the seller responds.
Good luck and keep us posted.
Gassed up and ready to roll...

I just saw your post over on navplus, sorry they weren't more helpful :(
I know those guys know everything about the Audi RNS nav and hoped they would have some info on the VW one as well.
I still think you will be able to get the unit you have to work, you just have to find the right guy with the right knowledge.
Good Luck!
