i think i got something here today, maybe almost twice but I dont know.
i did a New Posts, then clicked something. as that page loaded, my mouse blinked like crazy for a few extra seconds. page finished loading, bang antivirus lights up. 6 threats, files quarantined. pull network plug, check norton, do a full norton scan over lunch, all clear.
i do the same thing and the mouse starting its flashing. i immediately pull network plug. delete cache, etc.
anyway, anything like this happen to anyone else the last few days,
i know there was something a few weeks ago, but I am now asking about today /

I don't know if it's related to this site or not ... I had to perform a deep scan and found some serious stuff this past weekend.
It also may have come from an email I received via Hotmail account.. some Russian chick looking for a boyfriend.. had jpeg attached. I was curious so I opened it.. it didn't appear malicious, you never know.
See attached report...

Thanks for the post Rob. I'll be keeping an eye on this thread and notify AutoForums if necessary. As SRT-MANA found out it's very important to keep your anti-virus program current with the latest virus definitions. Same goes for critical Windows updates of which there was an important one last week. Yeah, yeah, yeah bruno... get a MAC.:D
Once again, those having problems should...
1) Clear your browser cache. In extreme cases, it may be necessary to restart the computer.
2) Ensure anti-virus program definitions are current and that the anti-virus program is running.
3) Run a full antivirus scan.
4) Ensure that your operating system and web browser are up to date and have all applicable patches installed. Install all security and related updates. Reboot the computer as necessary.
5) Contact any staff member so we can alert AutoForums staff.
Personally, I would also empty your Recycle Bin.
Here's a hoakey video you can follow along if you've lost internet conectivity as in this case where a fake anti virus program has disabled it and taken over your computer. Booting to Safe Mode with networking, then editing your LAN Settings will get you to a state where you can begin to fix the problem.

That situation was resolved. Please keep this thread restricted to current problems so we have a better understanding if this is new. As it stands it appears to me this is originating at the user end and not from this site. So far only robpp is indicating he has/had a current problem and I have to say it doesn't appear related to this site otherwise we'd have more current complaints.

I had this same problem yesterday or the day before. Just lasted for a short time but I have been fighting with my computer lately and finally just restored it back a few days and seems to have solved and the problem has not reoccured yet.

I had the blinking mouse deal the other day but antivirus didn't go off. It was on my laptop for work too, and is running full time active scans with up to date definitions. Site took a bit longer to load though

I have used Nortons Internet Security for years & only had 1 or 2 things sneek by, but they were removed with a full scan. Don't get just the Anti-Virus. Newegg . com has it at a good price & they sell copies that can be used on 3 computers for $50. Its always very highly rated by PC mags also. It let me know about the one a while back & I was who posted about it first. Wasn't worried about anything getting on my PC with Nortons running even though I knew the site was infected. It pretty much sets its self up by its self also.

I'd suggest just getting a Mac!
