anyone ever raced a gto, wither an ls1 or ls2? i know they move, but are they really that fast? they kinda seem like the snails, you can work the hell outta them, and they dont respond accordingly, but thats just my opinion. also mod for mod, jeep or gto?

Jeep from a dig for sure!! I raced one from a roll at all sorts of speeds and pulled buses on him but im blown so im kinda biased. But a stock jeep should do well none the less

LS1 GTO no problem dig or roll, LS2 GTO is a drivers race if they know how to launch or have an automatic you'd better be on your A game or have some mods they pull hard on the top end on a roll your toast.

HAHA 3rd video is me and my buddy James in his cammed GTO nice find, he puts down about 435 but still cant catch me, close but still I win:D

- Stock for Stock comparisons only! A Jeep will murder a GTO with its horrible ability to launch. Doesn't matter manual or auto with great launches same result. Best stock 60ft average is 2.0 and they are sluggish up to aboput 40mph. (note I said avaerage and not the time an individual got 1.9s)
- 20 roll Jeep jumps out in front really well but at the end the GTO would be gaining, but still lose unless you ran for more than 1/4 mile.
- 40 Roll Jeep would jump out by half a car but the GTO would soon overtake the Jeep and win in a 1/4 mile.
Ls2 GTOs are all I am speaking for, as the Ls1 would be typically slower. Now this is how I see it and I have experience with both. Heck I murdered a GT500 in the Jeep just b/c he sucked at launching! But GTOs biggest downfall was the IRS that made them hard to launch. It takes Pedders suspension parts, drag bags, MTs, etc. to make one launch worth a damn.

Here is me VS an LS2 GTO making 380WHP . Intake , headers , dyno tune etc .. race was from 50-120+MPH , Pretty much neck a neck , and from a dig to 120 is simply ugly for him .

Very good paul as hes 1200 lbs lighter and making at least 15 hp more to the wheels than you. At our 1/8 mile track with cai,headers tune and tires they run in the 8.10/8.25 and in NHRA STOCK CLASSES they run 5 classes higher than the jeeps.

+ 1 i have both my gto is cam only and pulled a 12.1 at 117 ls1 so either ls1 or ls2 dont hate because very few are stock and from dig obvious the jeep but from a roll its a diffrent story.

I have raced mainly stock ones with boltons at the track and they alll seem to run mid to high 13's. My SRT8 300 always pulls on them, and my buddy Gary's Jeep kicks my butt everytime because of his AWD launch. As with all cars though, there are always fast ones of everything.

I agree with all said here, stock for stock, Jeep wins from a dig, GTO from a roll. My wife's stock Jeep jumped a full length on me in the GTO before I hooked up and steamed by. Not exactly a fair comparison there though.

That was was Chris, he use to be a heavy hitter in the early stages of this forum....ASM SC,HEADS,CAM,HEADERS,EXHAUST & NITROUS! on a stock 6.1 bottom end.all this way back in the day.....imagine that! he striped it down & sold it & then bought a jeep wrangler & went crawling:eek: if I remember correctly.He still pops in every now & then. I think 11.3 was his best with the no2

My neighbor down the street used to have a stock LS1. He used rev as he drove by. Tried to get him to run but he had done his homework & wanted no part of the Jeep. I offered to go out on the highway with him after a dig or two but still wouldn't do it. I wanted to know how much he would get me from a roll.

Did a roll on last night with one, kept up for a bit, but the GTO pulled away. i did think he was at least 1000lbs lighter, either way, i looked up the stats on the GTO this morning. For a big girl, the SRT held her own.

They race from a roll because they no that cant hook on the launch and there the ones in ca we call bench racers. Ill give a guy a head start from a dig but never go from a roll.

I will typically give the guy a roll race or two or what we call "HIS RACE" as long as it's understood that I get "MY RACE" next :) My last trip up 35 to Austin I ran into a G8 GXP and we did a 50 roll I hung for uhhh well a few seconds LOL and he pulled on me pretty good after that.

Yeah, just an opportunity that rises as you drive home late at night. Not like a real race. Can't even really judge when both parties get on it. Remember it's for fun and a little excitement after all while driving our cars. For our SRTs to hang with these cars is pretty impressive.

I dont think you have one...but thought I'd ask:)
