I really want to get rid of the stock halogens and put in some HID's! Any recommendations on brands!?

A fellow member sells some nice kits. Hit up StreetWK to see what he has.

Otherwise, many users go with www.xenondepot.com or my personal favorite: www.hid-sin.com for the McColloch kits.

Just be sure you get a proper harness with the built in relay. Low beams = 9006 and our fogs are H10.

Good luck!

Thanks guys! I appreciate it a lot! How hard are they to install?? I've never done it so it would probably be better to take it to a shop and let them do it for me...... Did anyone els do it this way?? If so, how much did it cost you??

Mine was the first I had ever done as well. It really isn't that difficult, as long as you have some good instructions, and always if you run into a snag you can always ask questions on this forum.

I installed them myself. Both the fogs and the low beams. Took about three hours. It took the most time to decide how to best mount the ballasts. From there on, it's a plug and play.

I too am in the market for a set. PM that streekwk guy and see if he'll cut us both a break if we order a set of lows/fogs each. He's at $475 shipped, maybe he'd knock $50 off each if we present him with a "mini" group buy???

Lemme know what he says.

As far as install, this is probably one of the easiest things to do as long as you have full function of both hands! I've had these in every car I've owned and did them myself. Good luck whatever you end up doing, it's a good decision.

I'm interested in the lows/fogs also. Group buy???

I'll do us all a favor and start a new thread for a group buy opportunity. StreekWK is asking $475 shipped for a Low/fog setup with relays. Look for this thread and add your name if you want a dealer to contact you. I did this on corvetteforum.com and got 18 people a tune.

Whatever works out, I want to make my purchase by Wednesday so lets hope we can get a handful of people together.

The thread will be in the same forum of Interior/Exterior mods. I'll post something in the general too (if I am allowed.)

5 people = $230 shipped each kit (single) - $25 savings*
= $450 shipped for two kits - $50 savings* ($225 each)
= $660 shipped for three kits - $90 savings* ($220 each)

*Compared to $250.

How can i tell the quality of kits?? I've seen another guy on here selling a plug n play kit for 200.....

The plug and play kits (I believe) don't have the relays. I installed my old set from my grand prix and the passenger side low beam flickered. This was due to the power surging. A relay bypasses that and draws power from the battery.

Am I wrong or is this the explaination?

Also,

WK, I need a set of fogs for my '07 vette... I'm getting the bulb info here real fast and will PM you with it.

That would put me at 3 kits plus whoever else wants one.

These are high quality kits.

Dr.Steve PAID for a kit and is doing a write-up.
JNK238 paid FULL PRICE and only said good things about this kit.
A member of my forum just did a post about them also.

Have NO worries. The kit is backed by a 2 year warranty. I am working on a site now. www.work.thebackroads.net to see somewhat of it looks like.

Also relays are a MUST, they stop the flicker. Relays are easily $40.

Oh sorry. These kits DO INCLUDE relays.

Gentleman, I've installed Phillips HID's in my lows and fogs. I think they are really an great improvement. But why don't we want them in our high beams? There must be a reason. Anybody?

HID's don't like to be turned off and on so quickly. It out will burn the bulb out quicker. Also, it takes a good 30 seconds to a minute for the HID's to "warm up"

How well do our headlights focus the beam put off by the HIDs if at all?

Appreciate the explanation. Makes sense.

They do and I have them. Not sure why it is missing from the site link now. Give them a call.

By the way, nice to see a fellow RX7 enthusiast. I have had about 9 of them.

I installed my HID's and it took about 2 hrs but I also took my fuse box apart and wired relays and a fuse into the factory fuse box, I also did hi and low beams but not the fogs and I got the 9005 9006 set on ebay for $330 plus shipping. Here is a link to the Ebay seller , if you email him and let him know what you are looking for he will put a package together for you.HID seller (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/9006-LEXUS-GS300-GS400-RX300-HID-XENNON-HEADLIGHTS_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33710QQihZ00 1QQitemZ110129440730QQrdZ1)
