Just so I'm clear . . .

If I purchase the Kooks high flow header kit and want to pair that up with the new Borla S-Type exhaust kit, will there be any compatibility issues?

By the way, what is the main difference between the 3 Kooks setups that I saw on http://www.southernhotrod.com/store/bmy_search.php?brand=JEEP&type=Headers&x=14&y=12 ?

I see they are priced differently but I am unclear as to what I am getting or not getting bewtween the 3 options.

Any recommendations as to who I'd want to have install this set up?

Thanks,

Option 1....headers w/high flow catalytic convertors

Option 2....headers w/mid-pipes (no cats)

Option 3....just headers.

Check you local laws......or purchase whichever you like the best.....

with the Borla S-Type cat back exhaust?

http://www.southernhotrod.com/store/product.php?productid=16513&cat=0&page=1

I just want to make sure these two pieces will fit together properly as the diameters see to be slightly different from one another.

Is this setup a choice?

Thanks,

I can't believe that Kooks is still selling these without ever having resolved the CEL issue, and that their dealers are selling them without disclosing the problem.

Ok. I'll bite. What is the CEL issue (since I haven't yet purchased the Kooks kit)?

You get a CEL (check engine light) every 200 miles or so and have to purchase the "Dashhawk" to clear the codes.

EDIT: Don't worry that you'll be wasting your money on the Dashhawk because it also gives you 1/4 mile times, 0-60 ft times, etc...... here ya' go.....

I can get you a lot better price than what is listed on our site.

I can also get you a Borla catback.

If you have any questions, please give me a call.

Thanks!

What about the Stainless Headers that so far have not had a CEL problem?

News to me, are these for the Grand Cherokee 6.1 and are they made by Kooks?

Stainless Works is now making headers for the GC SRT-8.

I had given up on getting headers, didn't want to deal with the CEL issues. But the Stainless Works headers look promising (and sound great!!). From a quick search through some threads there seems to be no indication of CEL issues. Sounds like SW is the way to go.

I have to wonder, WHY would anyone want the Kooks? And how was SW able to solve the CEL issue so easily? Kudos to them for doing their homework and releasing a product that works, instead of just throwing something out there and letting customers deal with the problems. I fell bad for anyone who got stuck with the Kooks headers.

The only thing any of us can think of is that SW mounts the O2 sensor at a different angle.
