...and lost by .0529 sec. :o I met a really cool dude from Illinois with a lightly moded SS. After talking for a while we went down the track a few times. This is how the best race went.

SRT8------------------------------ SS
+ .1390 --------Reaction-------- + .2308
1.8491 --------- 60ft ---------- 2.1481

13.2018 --------- 1/4 -----------13.0571
102.99 ----------1/4 mph -------109.78
------------------.0529 --------1st Finish
'07 JGC SRT8: Drop in K&N
'99 Camaro SS: Headers, exhaust, intake, gears (diff), Drag Radials

Not bad, but as you can see by the time slip the SS made up some serious time at the end. After I hit 100 he started to pull hard on me. He told me I might have lost the race but I got the moral victory. He said he couldn't believe how I shot out of the hole and that he had to play catch up with me everytime we raced. This should clear up any confussion about how we fair against these SS's. I also have video but have no idea how to get it posted here. I'll work on it. In fairness I feel I should tell you his best time of the night was about 12.8 sec. Not my best run of the night either. If I could have pulled a 13.1 on that race I would have taken it with the better reaction time. We raced three times and they all turned out pretty much like this one. Oh well I still feel good about it! :D

wonder exactly which engine version of the Camaro SS he had. They can get pretty horny with a couple of those limited edition ones.

I was wondering the same thing myself. I don't know my camaros very well but I believe '99 was an early generation SS. If anyone here has more details on these cars please post them. It'd be nice to just how well I really did. I watched the video again this morning and at the point where we passed my camera person I was about a car and a half ahead. He made up some serious time and I can remember hearing him gaining on me until he nosed me right at the line. We were told by a lot of people our races were the best of the night. The guy that ran the camaro told me he thought his gearing was the only thing that helped him catch me at the end. He did admit that I would own him in a street race. I think I earned a fair amount of respect last night and it felt pretty good.

I believe 99 is the LS1. I think 98 was the first year the Camaro went from the LT1 to the LS1.

I had a 2002 Camaro SS Convertible with the SLP package. The SLP package was suppose to bump the HP to 345.

The other Camaro's out there are: Berger SS, Intimidator SS, and the ZL1. All very fast! Especially the ZL1 !!!

98-02 are all LS1 based motors. Some of the 01-02 had the ls6 block and made about 15RWHP more than the 98-00 but not much difference. It was just a regular SS there arent many variations.

Nice times!

Just connect your camera to the firewire port of your computer, open up Windows Movie Maker and "capture" the vid using the software. It should automatically capture video from your camera.

Then save to your hardrive, upload video in YouTube, done. Should take no more than 15 minutes.

Where is the firewire port? My computer's a few years old are you sure I have one? If I do have one won't I need a special cable to go from the camera to this port connection? Sorry for all the questions but I've been working on this with little success. I'd really like to get the video posted. Thanks.

if its a few years old you prolly dont have a firewire hookup and would have to get an adapter.
