: Question on MSRP

I put a down payment last Sunday on an SRT8 after agreeing with the dealer on list price - they wouldn't budge off of that. I get home and add up everything a couple of days later (with options figured separately), and notice the price they gave me is indeed $400 over MSRP - $39,700, not $39,300 (plus standard $695 delivery charge). I'm using Kelly Blue Book pricing.

I have talked with the salesman over there and he couldn't explain it then blamed it on Jeep raising the price after the April quote date in KBB. I've never heard of this before. And truth to that or are they blowing smoke?

Don't remember the exact date, May sometime, but indeed the base price went up $400. Part of this is to cover increased cost of SRT driving experience with contractor Skip Barber School. Was just in a showroom in Ga three days ago, and there were two on the floor...One showing 39300 on the Maroney sticker and the most recent one they got showing 39700. So at least what they are telling you is true.

Thanks Teda. I was talking to a GM for a Toyota dealership last night and he had never heard of such a thing.

Untouchable, the one I would be getting has everything but the DVD system. But we looked at all the options and the discrepancy was in the base price.

You would think Jeep Corporate would send something out to the dealerships so buyers like me don't start assuming they'd been duped.

$400 increase was to cover the SRT driving experience. Price increase is on all models that left the factory in late May and after I believe.

radduc - It was, but extra costs were added. I think wkjeeps has the info on the price increase. I know the fully loaded ones went from $45,590 to $45,990, after a certain point. Not sure of the exact date though.

This is one of those cases where the end-user knows more about the product than the person selling it.

I am the salesman working with zookeeper, and he is more of an enthusiast about the SRT-8 than I am. I owe a debt of gratitude to you guys for vindicating my statement about the price increase. I knew my management team and I were being honest with zookeeper, but I didn't know where the $400 difference between what kbb and the invoice on zookeeper's SRT-8 came from.

You enthusiasts helped restore zookeepers faith in me and my dealership.

Thank you! :)
