I've had this loud whining that sounds like the power steering pump going out for a while now and I was wondering if you were having the same problem. We took a trip from PHX to San Diego on day one, S.D. to San Francisco on day two, from there to Santa Rosa and back to S.F. on day three, and S.F. to S.D. on day four. We stayed 4 days in S.D. and drove back to PHX on day eight. We put 2086 miles on our rented HHR, 30+ MPG on regular cheap Costco gas, completely covered in bugs... all the while Brutus was safe & clean in our garage in AZ. The HHR hauled up to 6 folks to and from my daughter's college graduation. It was beautiful for that week.
