Ok so i had planned on the 08 srt-8 because they fixed all the issues i hated about my 2005 limited 5.7l But now i am considering waiting for the 500hp 2009 models. If you didnt already own one what option would you choose?

With everything up in the air with the Chrysler purchase, if I really wanted one I'd jump on it now.

usually it takes several years for changes from a purchase, as an example the 2010 chero remodel is already done and has been for a while with the exception of details that would mean the new co. couldnt really effect the chero platform till 2015 when it is redone again. with that said i suppose models such as the srt could be killed within a few years, even such that still makes an 09 coming out in a year. the 4.7l just got bumped to near 5.7l hp so that forces chry to bump up the hemi power immediatelly.

I am on the same boat. I've decided to defer my purchase until 2009. Given the excellent source of info from both forums, you will prob know for almost certainty whether 2009 will have 6.4L by late this winter. I am willing to wait a year to get the extra bump in HP.

The 4.7L HP got bumped, but it's still a 4.7L.

As for waiting on the 09....the 6.4L is NOT confirmed, and with new owners now on board could very easily NOT be included on the 09's. And, don't fool yourself, if the new owners feel dumping a vehicle that they only produce approximately 3,000 units/year will help it's financials, it wouldn't be all that difficult.

Get the 08, and start modding. Others on here are already closer to what a 7.0L would be at this point with GSM supercharger, and other mods.

cant do an 07 i already own an 05 and it has some nasty things that werent fixed till the 08s. i guess there is always the mod route. right now i am thinking i should go for the 08 then the redesign in 10 as i usually never keep a car more than a year or two (as you can tell the 05 has been the exception because its the wifes and she doesnt want to get rid of it)

question how can one add a supercharger i thought dcx didnt gve out thier software code like ford and gm? has someone succesfully hacked it?

Depends. Some need the SUV for room. In my case (no kids) I would consider it.

Hey, it just depends on what you really want. I would say go for it now, there are too many variables with the company being purchased recently. Good Luck!

I would not buy a first year GTS, would go 98 at the least.

Myself, had a 2k GTS.

What are these nasty things that you are mentioning. What's wrong with our Jeeps?

Its just me probably, but things like the interior quality, lack of xenon, lack of many other toys, small dvd screen, weak nav unit, etc. the 08s are much more refined to the cost of the car. Like i said its just preferance nothing against the older WK lovers, i just dont like mine and the quality of components used on it.

Nasty seems like harsh terminology but "whatever" its your money. By the way the Viper would have none of these options to begin with. Good luck.

The change in the interior of the 08's isn't going to be all you seem to think it will be. It's a "refresh", not a new model.

A larger DVD screen and touch screen Nav, yes, but for the most part, the interior will look very similar, save for the soft touch dash and dark slat gray color.

I believe they did make a few white GTS (GTS R) but will not be had for around $40s...

Yep...only the '98 GTS-R (GT2). You won't find one for less than 6-figures.
