Why are we getting a weaker TSB fix for our brakes than the lx ( with all rotor replacement ) ? Especially considering the GC is heavier than the lx and puts more strain on the braking system.
Our testing has shown that the vast majority of the noise was coming from the rear brakes. Also the level of scoring on the Grand Cherokee has not approached the level seen on the LX prior to that TSB and will not affect performance. Believe it or not the extra weight of the Grand Cherokee is a good thing for this brake system.
Inferno SRT8 05-16-2007, 04:19 PM Holy blowing smoke up our asses batman.

and at 20k miles our rotors and pads will be shot ...and than the line..."oh we're sorry you're past the 12k mile mark" If this is what we get from DC I dont even want to know how Cerebrus will be like...
bruso 05-16-2007, 04:34 PM What did you expect them to say??
I hope someone asks about this PCV oil blow- by into the intake
Razorecko 05-16-2007, 04:38 PM I feel like the srt sessions are more like "damage control" sessions than anything informative because the answers are always the same.
1. " Can't comment on any future products "
2. " Its there for a good reason and any changes might have adverse reactions"
3. " We will look into it"
Makes me almost wonder if these chats are forced by DC.

Oh...not to mention our f*cking trucks are also 46k.... "second only to the Viper" my ass!( In price....yes!! )
Seems we get treated like Ford Tempo owners when it's obvious that these trucks have severe brake issues.
Whatever man... I bet non of these "engineers" even drive Jeep srt8's and if they do, they get thier brakes and rotors free.... so no skin off thier balls.

The silver brake caliper paint turns gold when the brakes have gotten super hot. The previous owner must have had it on a racetrack at some point. We bet the rotors aren't scored from not using the brakes hard enough!
Is it just me or was that last crack aimed at my initial question ??

Sounds like it to me...whatever man... it is what it is....for now.
theoneyoucantreplace 05-16-2007, 06:11 PM It was a bull**** chat session. I am disappointed they did not truly care to address our need for rotors and front pads!
scottina06 05-16-2007, 06:45 PM its a problem on all the WK's. My WK's rear brakes squeal bad and the brake dust is aweful....like 10x worse than the front. the dealer says it is normal and I say BS.
barho 05-16-2007, 06:57 PM Well, I missed the session, but I can say this much, if they can't address the problem with the scoring rotors, they will be losing at least one future GCSRT owner. I can't see purchasing a second unit for the wife when they don't care to address the obvious issue of scoring rotors.
As the engineers said in a previous chat session regarding continuing to build the GCSRT...."you keep buying them, we'll keep building them"....well, with the answers we got tonight, I'd say they are getting a little closer to NOT building them.
Sorry for the rant, but I am PISSED OFF!!!
fever29 05-16-2007, 07:16 PM I noticed when I first found this site that there were alot of members posting issues, etc...I have only been here a short while and I am way too familar with the term "TSB". I realize that the GC is only into the third year for production but the SRT team needs to address these issues for the previous models. I just read today a post on a past SRT session(2006) stating that there would be a TSB for the transfer case addressing the "clunk" @ 20. m.p.h. I just bought an 07' in March...to date no TSB per my dealer. I realize they are doing research to make the new model better, but in all honesty I really don't care. What are they going to do to make my 45K truck I just bought run the way it should? If it was not for the resources provided on this forum, I would have never purchased my 2007. I just spent another grand on an additional PCM for the B&G tune that IMO should come from the factory or atleast have the option for it!
I do give the SRT guys credit for atleast listening to the customer's feedback, but I would rather live with the problems versus being pissed off that nothing is being done after everyone telling them the problems, hence this thread. The book "Customers for life" comes to mind in these situations.

SRT Engineer Answer:
"If new pads are put on the vehicle typically the rotors should be turned. If the rotors are beyond turning then they should be replaced. Without knowing how much rotor you have left it's tough to say whether they should be replaced or not.
Our dynamic's guy says to step on the brake pedal harder."

thats silly. so i'm supposed to mash on the brake pedal & lock up my seat belt every time i want to come to a stop? that would get old real quick.

Yeah I know, not to mention wearing them out quicker. I drove 55mph into my driveway and garage last night and nailed the brake just before hitting my workbench. It was a little scary but I will now do this every time just to minimize scoring.

Yep and hope the Toyota corolla behind you can stop as quickly, otherwise you'll need a new exhaust and bumper at the least. Thank you Geico for most of my new Mopar exhaust..

I would like to know why no one called BS on that comment?
That has to be the biggest load of **** I have ever heard!
