Hey, I recently did a oil change on my 2006 jeep srt8. When I changed it I used 0w-40 mobile one. I spoke with some one about it and they told me to use a different wieght, I know the factory calls for 0w-40 but I was just wondering if the person I spoke with was yanking my chain. I live in the northeast its hot in the summer around 90F. If anyone could piont me in the right direction it would be helpful thanks much. SRT8-DOUGLAS

5W-40 (http://www.wkjeeps.com/wk_maintenance.htm#ENGOIL) is OK too.

I ran 15w-50 in mine last year. There was a TSB stating to use this weight if the customer complained about the noise of the valvetrain (lifter tick)

0-4-, 5-40, both okay. A lot of use 15-50, particularly in the hotter climates. Helps quiet the whine from the piston oilers if you are hearing that also. Here's a bit of info too. When I changed out to 15-50 dealer gave me a couple of the stickers as shown in pic.

Hope this helps..........

I run 15w-50 in the summer when it's hotter out. Rest of the year I run 0w-40.

5w-30 or is that a typo?

I wouldn't recommend 5w-30 as it's only a 30weight oil at operating temp (0w-40 is a 40 weight oil at operating temp).

0W or 5W should be OK in your clime. I'm hesitant about going below 40 weight, but the 5.7 with MDS uses 5W-20.
