HawaiianGroove 05-16-2007, 12:40 AM Nice to hear. But will this help my front squeel....no. :(
Mango 05-16-2007, 05:18 AM I'm curious if these replacement pads are a new design, or if they are just putting another set on. Surely, just putting another set will not fix the problem.
Razorecko 05-16-2007, 05:53 AM WTF ! thats bullsh*t, everyone gets pads and rotors and we all get rear pads when my front ones are the ones that are fubare'd !!
jlandbl 05-16-2007, 06:09 AM Thanks Resume for posting! We appreciate it!
Anyone know if the 12k mile cap applies?
Razorecko - When I drive, the squeal sounds like it's coming from the front but if I hang my fat head out the window, it's really coming from the rear.
Eh2BRUTEh 05-16-2007, 06:14 AM I'm underwhelmed. I have screeching on all four corners and scored rotors. So only replacing the rear pads with the same crappy pads that are on there now would be a non-starter. I thought the SRT engineers said the rotor issue would also be included in this TSB? Trying to impress the new minder at Cerberus with their thrfty ways?

Mango - Do you know if the stock pads have a different part number than the ones in this TSB (68034993AA)? I know you changed your brakes so you might know.
kramsay1234 05-16-2007, 06:26 AM Thats the first thing I wondered - Are these different pads or just another set of the same. Surely Chrysler realizes that if this is common enough to requre a TSB, that putting the old style back on won't help.

Ok my dealer says they are different pads than the factory pads on there now.
68034993AA vs. 6803610AB
I'm having them installed next Tuesday so we'll see if this does anything.

The 12 month/12K mile warranty cap does apply. Luckily, I let my dealer know of the problem when I had 11,970 on the odometer.
Also, if you brakes are scored, tell the dealer, and have them replace them, as long as you are within the 12 month/12K miles

Thanks for the heads-up Resume & Barho. Gonna check with my dealer about replacing the pads with the new one's. Keep you guys posted as to what they have to say.
Peace!
2007GCSRT8 05-16-2007, 07:23 AM I'm now torn with what to do, be cheap or end the embarrassing squeals (insert joke here). I have 3500 miles and I'm very sure my brakes have plenty of life left in them. So do I avoid the embarrassing squeals, or wait another 5-7000 miles while still under warranty???
barho 05-16-2007, 07:27 AM I'll tell you what though, I am a little anoyed that they have not addressed the scored rotor issue. Why is it so hard to replace our rotors with slotted ones like they did for the LX platform????
Resume - any idea as to why they have not addressed the issue???

Look at the TSB again
MODELS: 2006-2007
So, to answer your question....yes
theoneyoucantreplace 05-16-2007, 08:24 AM This is a band aid being applied to a serious sore! I want my rotors replaced too!

I will be too busy to attend todays chat session on 300C. Can someone, preferably mutliple owners attend the seminar and ask 1) Why is this just for the rears when most of us have the squealing all over 2) Why are they not addressing the rotor issue when all of us seem to have it and they already did this for the LX platform?
Thanks!

I definitly will, if the rear pads are scoring the rotors and they are being replaced than obviously from the scoring all over all the pads should be replaced with new rotors. I'm about to say screw it and just buy myself a set of good rotors and pads.
capitalst 05-16-2007, 09:05 AM I just called my dealer to have them order the replacements but, they said it's not in there ADP systems so they have no idea how long it will take. Great here comes another month with squealing brakes. Let me know how you success is with getting the new pads.
I find it strange that they are only replacing the rear ones. The front did it sometimes too but, I guess I will take the rears for now.

Good deal. I'm a little mad that we got the shaft too. I'd like to know why they did the pads only. Mine make noise fronts and rears, and are scoring the rotors....not to mention the horrible dust...
Can you post their response back here if/when they replay Razor?
Thanks

Stickman 05-16-2007, 12:27 PM Is 12 months/12 thousand miles whichever comes first or will I qualify at 15 months with only 9000 miles on my vehicle?
ResumeSpeed 05-16-2007, 01:32 PM Ok my dealer says they are different pads than the factory pads on there now.
68034993AA vs. 6803610AB
I'm having them installed next Tuesday so we'll see if this does anything.
Should be: 68034993AA vs. 68003610AB
MSRP is $269.04.
Warranty is 12/12. Dealers can decide whether to honor outside of that timeframe/mileage, some will, some won't.
I'm glad I decided to fix this problem my self. My front passanger side was probably making the most noise. For the $170 it cost me I am much much happier with the low levels of brake dust and no noise from either my fronts or rears.

I feel like such a 0. :o Thanks for picking up the typo ResumeSpeed.
Eh2BRUTEh 05-22-2007, 10:49 AM Just had my first crappy dealer experience. Dealer arranged last week to have me come in today to get brake squeal TSB (05-002-07) dealt with.
They loaned me a PT Cruiser (not recommended) and told me to come back at noon. I arrive back and discover they do not have the parts (68034993AA) and no other dealer around here does either. They will have to "back order".
So why you might ask would they tell me to come in to install a part they do not have? What a bloody waste of time!
kramsay1234 05-22-2007, 11:32 AM Good advise. I was going in for an oil change tomorrow to have this done. Maybe will call in advance to see if they can get them there in time. Otherwise may have to defer visit.
Razorecko 05-22-2007, 11:38 AM Well I dropped my '07 off today at the dealer ( had an appt. because of it taking a few days for the pads to come in) for service work & the brake tsb. As soon as I get it back i'll let everyone know if it fixes any problems.
LittleDonnie 05-22-2007, 11:40 AM I have about 35 k on my jeep and the dealer is replacing my rear brakes tomorrow, so not sure if that 12/12000 really applies.
kramsay1234 05-22-2007, 11:47 AM Update - Called my dealer in Toronto and they said pads need to come from the States. 5-7 business days. Ordered them, but I certainly won't be the first to have this done.
JNK328 05-22-2007, 11:55 AM Good advise. I was going in for an oil change tomorrow to have this done. Maybe will call in advance to see if they can get them there in time. Otherwise may have to defer visit.
Just did the same thing. I was going in tomorrow for the front rotors & pads as well as the rear shocks(rt side makes noise in the cold weather), they are trying to get the rear pads. If not I'll push it off until next week.
It's funny, the dealer did not know about the TSB, I had to fax it to them. You got to love this forum for information. Thanks
Will let you know if it stops the problem.......
jlandbl 05-22-2007, 12:48 PM I called my dealer on 5/16 (the day the TSB came out) and spoke to the Service Director (I only deal with him now). He said he had to order the parts and he would call me when they come in to schedule an appointment. He also said a 5 star dealer has the discretion to apply the TSB after 12k miles.
HawaiianGroove 05-22-2007, 05:59 PM My Jeep is at the dealership right now getting the TSB done. They had to order the parts and said it should be done by Thursday.
kramsay1234 05-22-2007, 08:59 PM I am actually pretty stoked about this. Unlike others, I really only seem to have the brake squeal on lighter braking coming from the rears. The TSB was almost written to describe what I gots....
Then again, once the rears quiet down I will be able to better hear the front squealing away. :D
HawaiianGroove 05-23-2007, 11:45 AM My squeeking/squeeling is coming from all 4. So the rear brake TSB won't help much. Actually the front is WAY worse then the back. Hopefully someday Chrysler will have some good news for all with front squeeking problems.
the dj 05-23-2007, 08:20 PM Well I dropped my '07 off today at the dealer ( had an appt. because of it taking a few days for the pads to come in) for service work & the brake tsb. As soon as I get it back i'll let everyone know if it fixes any problems.
me too at lunchtime tomorrow - i'll post my findings
Wes88ley 05-23-2007, 09:36 PM My Breaks Don't Squeek Anymore With The New Pads From The Dealer!! :-)
Razorecko 05-23-2007, 10:00 PM Just got the car back....seems like for the 2nd time my actuator went to sh*t in the rear...but the brake tsb works the brakes are quiet..although i did hear the fronts squeel a little bit.
HawaiianGroove 05-23-2007, 10:20 PM Mine is still at the shop...waiting for the parts. I will post once I get it back.
Thumpn 05-24-2007, 12:26 AM my rears don,t make any noise but my front squeal like a stuck pig and are grooved all over and I only have 4600 miles on mine
jlandbl 05-24-2007, 06:13 AM Mine is going in tomorrow. Mine only squeals from the rear so I am looking forward to this. To those of you who have had the TSB done, how many miles did you have on your ride and what condition were your rotors in (i.e. grooved?, scored?) and did the dealer do anything about them or just slap on new pads? Thanks.

I have 16k they threw on the rear pads but thats it i'm sol on the rotors unless some tsb comes out for them.

I have an 06 with with 10k miles and the dealer says they aren't covered due to the fact that I took delivery on 1/17/06......does the dealer have any discretion? thanks
Eh2BRUTEh 05-24-2007, 11:52 AM Just had my first crappy dealer experience. Dealer arranged last week to have me come in today to get brake squeal TSB (05-002-07) dealt with.

Dealer has responded to my carping and despite saying it would take 5 to 7 business days will be putting my pads on tomorrow morning - 2 days after they sent packing with my embarassing squeek issue unresolved. Based on posts so far looks like those who got the install are reporting positive results.
the dj 05-24-2007, 11:57 AM update:: picked up my car & the TSB works - no squeeking
couldn't be happier!
srKEY 05-24-2007, 05:32 PM the squeak is completely gone after they installed the replacement pads!!! we'll see if it stays that way...very pumped my 40K+ car doesn't squeak everytime i come to a stop
Razorecko 05-24-2007, 06:02 PM ...why do I always get a Town & Country loaner when I take my srt8 in to get it serviced ???
HawaiianGroove 05-24-2007, 08:53 PM ...why do I always get a Town & Country loaner when I take my srt8 in to get it serviced ???
HA! I got a PT loser. :(
kramsay1234 05-24-2007, 09:05 PM ...why do I always get a Town & Country loaner when I take my srt8 in to get it serviced ???
LOL - some people are very happy to drive a Town and Country. Our company has a whole fleet of them and our drivers and passengers love them...:D :D
JNK328 05-25-2007, 07:11 AM ...why do I always get a Town & Country loaner when I take my srt8 in to get it serviced ???
Just dropped mine off for the TSB and front rotors & pads (grooved)....loaner is a dodge stratus. I asked for the GCSRT8 they just had delivered......they laughed.
jlandbl 05-25-2007, 10:03 AM ...why do I always get a Town & Country loaner when I take my srt8 in to get it serviced ???
I get no free loaners from my dealer.
Dropped my car off this morning. They just called to say it's ready. They resurfaced the rear rotors and it was included. They had a Chrysler rep on site who authorized the extra work. I will post results later when I pick her up.
Eh2BRUTEh 05-25-2007, 10:44 AM Just picked mine up (they gave me a Hemi Charger as a loaner - sure beats the PT Cruiser i got last time). No brake squeel at all. They also found a screw buried in my run flats and fixed that. All's well. Just waiting on B&G arrival now.
jlandbl 05-25-2007, 06:44 PM Picked mine up, no more squeal. They resurfaced the rear rotors free of charge. I love the silence when I hit the brake. Love it. The simple things make me happy.
Rick G 05-25-2007, 07:23 PM If we have the same pads on all 4 corners why wouldn't they replace all of them? My brake noise is coming from the front. :( Does any one know what is different about the replacement pads?
Diabol 05-29-2007, 11:47 AM Just want to thank you for posting this thread!
I just got new rotors and pads at 11,800 miles at no charge.
Thanks
LittleDonnie 05-29-2007, 11:53 AM got mine replaced today, no more noise.
JNK328 05-29-2007, 12:20 PM Got mine back Friday...no noise. They replaced the rear pads on the TSB, and the front rotors and pads b/c of the grooved rotors. Feels great. Took it to the track Friday and ran a 13.4.
No complaints.
Just want to thank you for posting this thread!

What should I say to get the free rotors. Mine re goved really bad and it seems like my pads are going fast. I took it in before but they said that it is normal....I dont think its right.
Im going to try another dealer because the one I go to is just aweful. They forget to do oil changes, and dont seem to care at all about my concerns. I am so tired of it too. Then I end up paying for half the stuff that should be covered. later I find out that it should have been free.
I hate DCX dealers so far...I am glad that I love my Jeep.
HoustonSRT-8 05-29-2007, 12:35 PM With 26k miles, I'm afraid that they'll end up charging me for the TSB. I'll just go with the pads from GSM.
2007GCSRT8 05-29-2007, 12:37 PM So with 3000 miles, what would you guys recommend doing? Should I get some more life out of what I have, or get the fix and be done with it???
GodfatherSRT8 05-29-2007, 01:02 PM With 26k miles, I'm afraid that they'll end up charging me for the TSB. I'll just go with the pads from GSM.
Why not try the Zach H. pads?? Are the GSM pads better?
Rick G 05-29-2007, 06:30 PM So with 3000 miles, what would you guys recommend doing? Should I get some more life out of what I have, or get the fix and be done with it???
I also have 3700 miles, my brakes are fine with minimal noise so I'm going to wait as long as possible. No sense to start wearing out a new set yet until I get the most out of the stockers. Its nice to know they'll be there when I need them though. ;)
Beltfed 05-29-2007, 07:06 PM Pads are ordered and I'm at 3,500 miles.....the noise drives me crazy.
EX-SVTMAN 05-29-2007, 07:53 PM I have about 1,100 miles now and no noise... the shift hesitation has reared it's ugly head though on the 1-2nd shift only and it's driving me up the wall.
I'll just wait till these pads wear then I'll go complain and get new ones :)
DanDE 05-29-2007, 08:40 PM Great thread. I'm at 3500 miles and I'm going to do the TSB. Drives me nuts. I'm pretty sure my squeal is from the rear as I can get it to stop by lightly applying the hand brake.
HawaiianGroove 05-29-2007, 09:45 PM Got mine back over the weekend. I just washed the car also.... so my wheels are really clean. No squeeks yet. But well see as my wheels get dirty.....
NitroCrzy 05-30-2007, 12:56 AM Today I took my Jeep back in to the the Sunroof cover pieces replaced.. they seperated due to the high temps....
The customer service guy called me up and said I didn't mention the brake noise... he said no problem... he'd replace them under warranty. Not sure which he wanted to replace.. the $155 hawk pads on the back or the $175 Gold Rotex on the front
I had to say specifically to please not replace my new replacement parts .... grrrr
HoustonSRT-8 05-30-2007, 10:13 AM Why not try the Zach H. pads?? Are the GSM pads better?
GSM sells the Satisfied brand and they were recommended by people here.
badass 07-12-2007, 08:44 PM I have an 07 GC SRT8.....just bought monday and was surprised that it did not have the new slotted rotors.I had an og magnum SRT8 that had ALL 4 rotors replaced @5K miles because they were grooved (the pads were wearing down the rotors). For 07 the SRT8 mags all have slotted rotors now,was this never a problem on the GC's ?
BuilderBill 07-12-2007, 09:00 PM I have about 1,100 miles now and no noise... the shift hesitation has reared it's ugly head though on the 1-2nd shift only and it's driving me up the wall.

At least you CAN get rid of the damn hesitation by installing the B&G with the rev. limit raised.
Bill
spartansrt8 07-13-2007, 02:15 AM i gave my dealer crap about the brake dust and the squeel and they replaced all 4 pads and rotors:) no more squeel and no more brake dust. i love canada, haha.
gary536 07-13-2007, 09:37 AM Going to pick my vehicle up this afternoon after getting the brake TSB performed. With 14,900 miles i wanted them to do it under warranty but they gave me some trouble. End result was i split the cost with the dealership getting the rear pads installed for $234.
luvr 6.1 07-13-2007, 09:50 AM Had mine done 1200 miles ago and they are starting to squeak pretty good again. Off to see the dealer for a fix. They can just keep replacing pads, because something is off here.... they didn't squeak for the first 8,000 miles and now it can't even go another 8,000 before starting up again.
jlandbl 07-13-2007, 09:54 AM i gave my dealer crap about the brake dust and the squeel and they replaced all 4 pads and rotors:) no more squeel and no more brake dust. i love canada, haha.
What kind of pad did the dealer use that eliminated dust? The pads used by my dealer, as part of the TSB for the rears, did not solve the dust problem, only the squeal.
DanDE 07-13-2007, 03:08 PM Had the rear TSB done (they did not turn the rotors). Mine are squealing like an SOB again.

T-Time 07-14-2007, 08:04 AM bump!!!!!!
barho 07-25-2007, 08:12 AM Took mine in for the TSB and they have replaced all four pads and rotars, free of charge :D
juk08srt 01-20-2009, 09:23 AM Just got off the phone arguing with an ******* of a service manager. He says that they didn't hear any noises while they had the Jeep SRT8. Funny they put a couple of miles on it and didn't hear the noise or test the homelink system. What a flaming !@#$!@#. It still makes the squeal and still does't work. I'm going to call the GM and give him a piece of my mind and move my business.
I'm sure that this is not the first time this has happened.
