i am new here and new to the jeep world i guess. i just sold one of my mustangs and am planning on picking up an srt8 for an everyday car. just a couple of questions:

1.what do you guys do for gas milage ( i know u dont buy this truck for the gas milage and i am not worried about it, justeveryone i ask says something diff, so just wanna see what you guys are averaging)

2.can i go to a dealer and buy one of these new as an 2010 model. i read somewhere that you cant anymore?

3.i also hear for the 2011 models, they are coming out with a 6.4 litre 550hp. and truth to this as well.

thanks in advance steve

1. I get 10mpg average, but I live in the middle of Los Angeles and am in traffic all the time. I also drive like a douche most of the time...it's hard not to in the SRT8.

2. 2010s are getting harder and harder to find. They exist, but you can't get them straight from the factory anymore. If you're seriously looking for a 2010, I'd get on the ASAP before they all disappear.

3. No one knows exactly what's happening with the 2012 SRT8s. There won't be a 2011 model for sure. If they do come out with the 2012, it'll have enough horsepower to compete with the X5M at least, but maybe not quite 550bhp.

Looks like they have already answered your ?s! I agree you need to get on the ball if you want a 2010. A good question is do you like the current body or do you want the new body style?

I couldn't find a new 2010 so I bought a slightly used 2008. cheaper and a great truck. only owned for 2 days so can't comment on the mileage but its pretty bad (but worth it)

ive gotten up to 17.5 on a trip... usually about 12-13 around town...
i thought they were going to be more like 2013... the 11's are almost out and i think the challenger is the only one with the "yes" to the 6.4

They are getting very hard to find
Looks like it will be back in 2012. 6.4L with rumors from 480-525 hp.

Are dealers willing to go out and locate them and bring them in from a distance? With the 2011 cherokees on the lots I would guess the prices would be pretty good for a leftover 2010 SRT even if they have to "get it" for you.

I think it would depend on the dealer. My dealer trucked one in from 450 miles away and had to take some other vehicles with it. We got all the incentives Jeep was offering at time but I'm sure we paid some for the work the dealer had to do to get - and I would expect to. At the time (March 2010) most dealers that had SRTs were not interested in trading them to another dealer.

You would probably get a better price going out and finding it yourself and arranging your own delivery. It depends on how much the hassle is worth to you in $.
