Hi everyone im new and seriously considering a SRT Jeep for my wife so ive been on here searching. My main concern is i want to be able to pull my 2000 stage 3 Audi s4 to and from the track and about 60 miles to my tuner. From what i have read it is possible to tow this amount of weight with a custom hitch and minding the parking pin. Anyway after reading though a lot of threads there are very few actual pictures of the SRT towing so if you have some please post them up and any other towing insight you may have would be great also.:roller:

Do a search for Kramsay in the advanced search under user name.

I tow a 2000# + boat and use the Mopar SRT hitch.

that much isnt good for our trannys. its not the fact we CANT tow that much.... its just that it wears our tranny and transfer case out ALOT quicker. this came directly from the service tech at chrysler, who owns a 300srt8 and does alot of research as well.

whether true or not idk.... just what i have been told.... this reminds me to ask you guys a question who are able to log and view your st and lt knock. when i was towing my boat afew weeks back, i live in NM and the lake is 2 hours away thru alot of hills. i was getting alot of LT knock. anywhere from 3-6 anytime i was on the gas. if it was a flat road it was 0-2, any time going up a hill it was 3-6 depending on what gear i was in. i like to tow in autostick because i dont like it shifting on its own all the time. anyone else have issues like this? on the way there i thought it was maybe my CMR tune, but then on the way back i switched to the stock tune and still the same.

anything over 3000 lbs is supposed to be BAD for our trannys. my boat is pushin that amount and i havent had any problems with it so far. altho i will say our rigs arent the greatest in the sand. i didnt get stuck or anything and i had the power to get out which was nice.... but i dont recommend it. tranny made some nasty noises when bouncin around in the sand. think i'll take my old jeep next time.

I haven't heard that the 3,000 limit was because of the tranny. I heard the weakest link was the rear suspension, and the parking gear (people who put it in "P" to park on a hill, while hooked up to a trailor) These specs are based on what the "weakest link" could handle. And they dont require people to know that your supposed to pull the e-brake when parking on a hill with a trailor....

Im just stating what I have read.... I am no expert.

i did hear the parking brake thing as well....which i would attribute to jut plain stupidity parking on a hill any way while towing more than 3000lbs. I've also read that our trannys are mostly composed of mercedes internal parts, so i would think they would be pretty durable. I think the 3000lb limit may also be due to the increased strain on the transfer case. i think if the Tcase were disabled (pull the tc motor) while towing we would have less to worry about
