I always thought the double-slanted stripe was part of the srt logo (at least when I saw it years ago)... A few days ago, saw a C6 vette with them on it's fender? I see it being advertised in the Dodge logo.

Now Dodge is going to start putting them on the Nitro. Is this going to be the new styling trend like the M3-like fender vents?

The fender stripes on a vette originated on the very first Grand Sports. The racing vettes actually used tape on the fenders to identify the different race cars in the sixties I believe. That fender tape ended up being an identifier on the 1990's Grand Sport with red stripes on the drivers side fender.
Dodge is starting to use that logo in all its commercials and on some of its vehicles like the Challenger and the Nitro that you noted.

yea it used to be just srt had that those 2 stripes. looked like this:

//
SRT

there were shirts, jackets and other things made with this logo, but now it seems like its just hats and jackets, i havent seen a shirt with this logo, as ive been trying to get my hands on one.

and yes that option was only made available on the 1996 corvette grand sport, as well as the new 2010 grand sport.

So really, this logo is not really owned by any manufacturer...

They are called hash marks and they were used, as mentioned above, to identify race cars on the same team which had identical paint schemes. So one stripe for the number one car, two stripes for the next car, etc. The vette ones are always over the wheel well, the SRT ones seem to be higher up, closer to the windshield.

I thought they were called "Rookie Stripes" to identify new drivers. On teams with multiple almost identical cars I always see the mirror caps or something painted a different color to tell the apart, other than the number.

This was in the 60's. I believe they were for the pit crews, who couldn't see the side numbers when the car was head-on.
