So I went to the dealer the other day and to replace all brake pads and resurface the rotors was $1050. That seems insane. $650 for parts and the $400 for labor.
This is in the Philly area. I know a small mechanic would be a bit cheaper for labor, but I dont know about for the pads. And the scary thing is the car only has 18,000 miles. The next time I will need pads and rotors for about $2000. Please help!!

The pad change on any of the SRT8 vehicles is pretty easy. I did it on the GC in about 90 minutes, and it only took that long because I decided to fully detail the front and back of each of the four wheels while I took each one off.

Since I have pneumatic tools, it is easier for me. I don't have time to get them right now, but if you go to www.300cforums.com, you can find a how to do the r&r on the pads. It's the same procedure on the LX cars as on the Jeep.

I paid a fortune for my brakes.... I ordered all high performance parts... Disc Italia cross drilled/slotted rotors and gold rotex front pads... hawk HPS rears... plus an extra set.... totally parts and labor including shipping $6K.

And to think I only have 6000 miles. But, I do race it occasionally at the Bahrain International Circuit.

Still looking to replace the tires..... :D

put them in your self. very easy install. They have set by step instructions on their website. I did not resurface my rotors as they didn't look that bad with 18k miles on them. Bedded the pads and now everything is good no noise and lots less brake dust. Don't pay $600 for pads from the dealer.

Do you need any special tools to replace the pads?

You need a drift punch to get the retainer pins out. It's very easy. Take a look at the aforementioned Zeckhausen website. It actually links to the www.300cfourums.com page.

For an accountant, I thought the pad change was pretty easy!

I used a long aluminum nail for a punch, flattened out the head of course. You will need some type of c-clamp for compressing the pistons. I picked up a plastic vice type thing at sears for cheap money.
