450 Supercharched Horsepower with 500 lb of Torque for a base price of $53,000, the same price as a GC SRT8 I'm assuming.
Will this monster beat our trucks???
Discuss.
NitroCrzy 05-14-2007, 01:25 AM It's a pickup... I'm more worried about the new 2008 Porshe Cayenne Turbo. I know from personal experience it has the edge on us.
cumadogg 05-14-2007, 01:28 AM Edmunds tested it a few weeks ago. It did 0-60 in 6.8 sec and the 1/4 in 14.9 @ 93.3 MPH. That was slower than the new Toyota Tundra they tested.

And good luck finding one in the $53k range, at least where I live. The two I have seen were both over $62k!
Jred22 05-14-2007, 02:49 AM it sucks .
EX-SVTMAN 05-14-2007, 05:24 AM yeah...that platform is too fat and heavy unlike the previous lightning. even if it had more power we would still smoke it guys....AWD remember?
FastSRT8GC 05-14-2007, 06:37 AM The Toyota is the real animal. At the track a short bed, standard cab ran 14.1 with the dealer sticker on it. The guy only removed the Airfilter!!! Watch out for one of these with an exhaust, intake, and NOS!!!!!
On the street it will be hard for 98% of the vehicles to beat us. The way these Jeeps get off the line is just plain sick. The track is a different story.
The F150 will have ZERO traction, just like the lightening guys had to deal with till they started to change suspensions out.
HoustonSRT-8 05-14-2007, 07:54 AM Personally, I think the Saleen looks beautiful for a performance full-sized truck. It's just too damn heavy, especially with 23" wheels.
Edit - Now that I look at Saleen's website listing the curb weight as approximately 300-400lbs heavier than us, I guess it's just severely traction limited. It would be interesting to see what one with traction could run. IMO, I think Edmunds got some slow times.
BTW, this is a pretty cool pic.

panajeep 05-14-2007, 08:12 AM dont worry ................gc str-8 happy
OurZoo 05-14-2007, 08:26 AM Nothing to piss in your koolaid about and I also think it is a nice looking rig!
BahnBlastR 05-14-2007, 01:29 PM You mean I wasn't supposed to pee in my Koolaid? Oh man!
ResumeSpeed 05-14-2007, 03:30 PM ...I'm more worried about the new 2008 Porshe Cayenne Turbo. I know from personal experience it has the edge on us.
It can't beat us on looks, performance numbers, seating comfort, or price. What's left that anyone cares about?
awdrocks 05-14-2007, 04:11 PM You are comparing apples and oranges. That's a full size truck and the Jeep is a "mid" sized SUV.
At the STR8's price there are not any contenders from factory, except maybe the SS Trailblazer, but IMHO, the STR8 is better, and of course faster.
But remember, in the modding world... its anyones game... always give the guy next to your lane the benefit of the doubt... he could have anything under that hood ;)
FastJeepSRT8 05-14-2007, 09:43 PM I don't think any of us have to worry about lining up with one of these trucks at a light. It is a cool looking truck though. The Ford guy's have been doing a pretty good job with the styling lately. I like it even if it can't beat our Jeeps.
Inferno SRT8 05-16-2007, 03:46 PM With the weight of that truck and 23" rims not a chance in hell.

According to Saleen, the curb weight is only 300lbs heavier than us.
