: Who's keeping their Jeep FOREVER???
YoungMedic23 06-08-2010, 08:13 PM So.....who's Jeep is special enough to them to keep it FOREVER???
I definitely am keeping it FOREVER!!!
My reasons:
In too deep with mods....seriously
It's 1 of a kind...no other SUV's are as nice in every way
It will ALWAYS turn heads...even 10 years from now!
It's got everything I could want in a street/strip racer
Sickest AWD vehicle you can mod to go fast and look mean!
I would never trade it in, de-mod it, sell it, lend it, nothin! It's MINE
and as Keoni said to me "We have waaayyyy too much $$$ in our jeeps to sell them to some punk rich kid to "F" it all up"
It's not about the money but i have more passion for my Jeep than any other car i could imagine owning....sure there are exotics, lifted trucks, luxury, imports but non of them are quite in a league of their own like the Jeep Srt8 which is a high performance SUV! the rest can come and go! And i would have never thought 3 years ago i'd be saying this about a JEEP??? WTF?
Seriously i just can't see how some of you can just sell your Jeeps like nothing.....but then i don't know your personal situations but the only heavily modified vehicle sold was Winston's and we know why....but he's gonna mod up the next Srt8 Jeep!

Grip Grip 06-08-2010, 08:18 PM I'm way too attached and I've sunk more money into it than I'll ever admit. I could never let it go without feeling sick about it. Of course, this is as long as the economy gets better and I stay gainfully employed, but if you remove that from the equation I'll keep it forever.
af_maineiac 06-08-2010, 08:21 PM I'm way too attached and I've sunk more money into it than I'll ever admit. I could never let it go without feeling sick about it.
I'm quickly approaching that phase myself. I'm practically married to mine...
.
1BAMFR 06-08-2010, 08:26 PM My family is a "Jeep" Family! My dream car was the SRT8 Jeep......I finally figured out how to get one for a good price and I GOT IT!!!! It was one of the coolest days ever!
The mod bug bit me hard and over the last 3 yrs. I've been building it piece by piece.
I will never sell it....I'd like to just pay it off and keep it forever.
The attention these Jeeps get on a daily basis is RIDICULOUS
1BAMFR 06-08-2010, 08:27 PM I'm quickly approaching that phase myself. I'm practically married to mine...
.
Me too Brian!!!!!!:D
lchevere 06-08-2010, 08:30 PM While at the track a couple of months ago I was talking to a guy who had a 1967 Mustang which he bought new from the lot. He has owned it for over 40 years and it runs in the 10's. That is my goal but I can't predict the future...
POWERDEE 06-08-2010, 08:35 PM I had mine for two years. Sometimes I still cant believe that its mine. I swear this Jeep is my very most favorite inanimate object. I haven't even started my mods yet because, my dough has been funny for the last year but, it doesnt even matter I still love this thing. i'm gonna keep it forever.
KingOfTheRoad09 06-08-2010, 08:37 PM I will live in my Jeep before I would ever sell it. Its mine forever. Eventually I will probly buy something else for a DD but the Jeep will always keep its spot in the garage. I love my beautiful wife:D haha lmao
eddiefig 06-08-2010, 08:40 PM I'm going to be buried in mine. My wife HATES the bond I have with my "stupid truck!". Lol.
YoungMedic23 06-08-2010, 08:40 PM I'm pretty sure i'll buy another Jeep one day and mod it the same way but with a different power adder...centrifugal or turbo!
The cosmetic mods will be similar but a little different...and the color will be red like Johnny Boychiks!!
jdoc7 06-08-2010, 08:40 PM Forever for me! But I say that about every car I end up selling! Kidding aside, there's no way I can make back what I've put into this vehicle so unless I can afford the $$$$$ hit in the future, I'm keeping this thing forever.
A.V.GCSRT8 06-08-2010, 08:40 PM I love mine to much to sell it. Gets a ton of attention (even though everyone asks if I've seen Pauls silver one around town). Love to drive it anywhere I can. I actually wanted one but couldn't afford it for $45,000 then last year when my sister was in labor my moms boyfriend told me got the local dodge dealer to sell it to him for $32,000 otd brand new. He drove it for about 8 months my car got stolen and he said he didn't like it and asked if I wanted to take over payments.
ABenson36 06-08-2010, 08:53 PM My 06 with me for the long haul! Its my DD at this point so I'm going easy with the mods, but if/when the 2012 come out, I'll be the proud owner of 2 SRT8 Jeeps and the mods will officially begin on my 06 and the 12 becomes my new DD.
I already got the wifes approval on my plan as well:cool:
Vinnysrt8 06-08-2010, 09:44 PM My jeep is my wife i would never sell i thought about selling it and i had nightmares about it and plus i put alot of my money in it.
Joe Las Vegas 06-08-2010, 10:01 PM I just might keep it forever, but who knows, that's what I thought I was gonna do with my Magnum RT.
If the 2012 GCSRT8 is not better, I'll keep the 08 GCSRT8 for as long as I can, and when I decide to do that, I'll put on a Vortech in it.
Knuckles 06-08-2010, 11:08 PM Plan on keeping mine forever and if a new one comes out I might buy a new one as well.. My girl as well hates this Jeep!! Oh well... Heheehehehe...
Donnie91 06-08-2010, 11:16 PM keeping it forever, once i get something new im taking the plates off and in the garage it will go. I love this truck, i couldn't have made a better decision in my life ( so far lol) on buying this jeep.
6.1_Toboggan 06-08-2010, 11:30 PM There are a very few select automobiles that qualify as indisputable classics. Pinnacles of excellence, set aside from the conventional time-stream that effects most pathetic offerings that most "settle" for. Any newer model or continuation of the theme can be credited to this one progenitor, the legend. The Jeep is such a vehicle.
LBCSRT8 06-09-2010, 12:33 AM I've said this before and I'll say it again, 3 years later and I love it as much as I did when I first bought it! Still gets all the stares, oogles and questions, still look at it's reflection in store front windows and still look back over my shoulder after I park and think..."What a Bad A** Jeep I have! I will eventually get a supercharger under the hood.:D
J&D's SRT's 06-09-2010, 02:53 AM Tough decision between keeping & trading for a 2012. Will depend on looks & how fast the 12 is. If it runs 3.9 to 60 & low 12's stock will make it even tougher. August will be 3yrs since I picked up my 08, hard to believe. Was looking at a Kenne Bell earlier thinking how sweet that would be. Only $7300 for a 2.8 & 8k for a 3.6.
BOYCHIKS 06-09-2010, 03:56 AM I'm with Eddie, although not married!! I think my entire family HATESS the bond with the truck!!
Paul, we can always trade ya know... Ain't redrock so perrrttyyyy :D
GenevaSRT8 06-09-2010, 05:00 AM Ok, that's a tough one Paulie!
I voted "handing on to it until I lose interest"(*), mostly because the new version will be around in a year or two, probably exported around 2 to 3 (fingers crossed on this one... or I may go down the direct import route), and I may well be tempted to pull the trigger at that time.
Should the new GCSRT8 never see the light or be banned from registration (jealousy disguised as tree-hugging is all the rage these days), that's a whole different story...
I never owned a truck that I am more "involved" in, so replacing with its newer generation is the only way to evolve from where I am now. Otherwise, my truck is a keeper!
(*): stupid me, there is another answer just for my case... I guess it's a bit early for me to say "plan" as I have no idea about availability, price etc... but I should have ticked the other one!
jim383 06-09-2010, 06:00 AM I keep all my car untill the exstended warranty nuns out. If theres a 2012 srt8 with the new 6.4 i might get it and sell the 07.
Muellge 06-09-2010, 06:13 AM maybe if a local baller offered me a price too good to pass up, but i won't be putting a sign in the window.
Rose City GC SRT8 06-09-2010, 08:02 AM My Jeep is like my right hand ---- always there for me!
supabusa 06-09-2010, 08:30 AM In 20 or 25 years I'll get the 1000 h.p. electric SUV running 9's from the factory.
MMGCSRT8 06-09-2010, 08:35 AM I bought the Jeep 2 years ago and have no intentions of getting rid of it. I fell in love when I first saw the commercial and started to bank some money, so one day I'd have my own. It was either the Jeep or have kids and get married .. I chose the Jeep:cheers:
mklaus 06-09-2010, 08:56 AM saw the jeep at a 2006 world of wheels show in Boston, didn't have a price, and i didn't know what it was besides a Jeep. Wanted one ever since... no one knows what the new one will look like, or how it will perform but for now i plan on keeping my jeep FOREVER
SRT-8RAT 06-09-2010, 09:05 AM I plan on keeping it until the new one comes out. I do love it! But a 6.4 Hemi sounds even better.
supabusa 06-09-2010, 09:06 AM I bought the Jeep 2 years ago and have no intentions of getting rid of it. I fell in love when I first saw the commercial and started to bank some money, so one day I'd have my own. It was either the Jeep or have kids and get married .. I chose the Jeep:cheers:
:bigthumb: Excellent choice. And a ton cheaper!
KidItsRandall 06-09-2010, 09:52 AM LOL I agree with everyone who is "married" to their ride....Ill have a Jeep FOREVER!!! I cant say it will always be "THIS" one, but always a JEEP SRT8. The 6.4 just sounds too tempting....
veyronSRT8@TTCreations 06-09-2010, 10:01 AM I think you know my answer Paul. ;) even prior to making the decision to go as far into modding as i did, i knew i would be keeping it...to me the look is timeless. modding it was just a way of me showing my appreciation. ;) "SRT8J4L"...think you should use this one on your plate Paul. (J4L...Jeep 4 Life)
rwboring 06-09-2010, 10:06 AM lets just see who still has their jeep in 10 years...
double_d99 06-09-2010, 10:23 AM This car is the coolest car I have even owned, and I have had a bunch of sick cars. My wife knows it and I told her to never let me get rid of it lol. Its hard to compair other cars to ths one, I really wanted the new Camaro and I had the opportunity to trade in my Jeep for it, but I drove the Camaro and was dissapointed that my jeep performed better than it, so I will just pay off the jeep then get a camaro in the future.
Mister Moe 06-09-2010, 10:32 AM This is my second SRT8 and I loved my Magnum, it turned heads on and off the track. But the Jeep is the ultimate sleeper especially here in the sticks where everyone has a 4x4 or a Jeep of some nature, but on the whole Island I have only seen two other Jeep SRT8's one is driven by a grey haired lady and the other I only see it coming onto the island in the morning commute and leaving in the afternoon commute. So non of the "ricers" know about it on the island and those that do tell me to my face. "hell naw, I don't want to get embarrassed." They'd rather race my 5.7 300C than the Jeep" As for keeping her. Hell yeah I just want to get her paid off and she will have a permanent place in the garage next to the 300 that is already paid off.
I just paid off mine, 3 months early. Now all car payments can go to mods. Decisions, decisions.....
m4xm1l10n 06-09-2010, 10:49 AM Mine is a keeper , unless the wife has me choose between the JEEP and Her !!
2007srt8 06-09-2010, 11:21 AM I have owned over 16 modded vehicles and the GC is only one that really fits my lifestyle (kids, winter driving,work..etc)
For me the biggest problem is that I don't like having a 2nd car as a daily driver.
my 2 cents
Let's just say I'll own mine untill I loose interest..... Which won't be untill 2013 ATLEAST!
I can't even imagine selling my baby!
SRT8-KSA 06-09-2010, 01:51 PM Mine will never go anywhere ... !!! Staying in the garage forever
I sure will buy me another whip one day, but no trading with the Jeeep
I love my Jeep but between the 5-speed transmission, really bad suspension and solid rear axle I will most likely be upgrading to a 2012 model (if it comes out) which will hopefully have those issues addressed. I don't really like the way 2011 GC looks (I think my 2010 looks better) but I am willing to give that up for an independent air suspension in 2012 SRT8 (if it ever comes out). Of course having 500+ stock HP in a 6.4L engine won't hurt either.
higshemi 06-11-2010, 08:33 AM Personally, I don't see how anyone can keep a car forever.... Mine will be gone in my typical 3-4 years. Then I'll usually buy something bigger and badder!
BeNJeeZy 06-11-2010, 12:13 PM I'm not gunna lie. I have thought about selling the Jeep quite a few times in the past but only for financial reasons. I've thought of trading it in for Subaru STI's, GTO's, almost had a deal completed for a 350z with less than 3000 miles on it for an amazing price. Thought I had my mind set on trading it in as I was leaving the dealership. Sure enough on the ride home, driving down the highway, listening to Borla, feeling that instant power, I swear I almost had an emotional breakdown. I turned to my girlfriend who was sitting in the passenger seat. She took one look at me and said "Yea I know...she's not going anywhere." The point is theres just nothing out there that delivers everything that this Jeep does. Of course I wouldn't mind having a few other toys to park next to the Jeep in my driveway...
silverbullet 06-11-2010, 06:34 PM Isnt it sick how we all know the Jeep has it's shortcomings and 'flaws' BUT we all love it nevertheless? WIERD!
I am the same way. The suspension in the back is aweful, the leather on the seats is crap, less plastic in the interior would be nice (we can fix this easy) but despite all this and more, one ride... just crack the whip once and all is forgotten.
Not many cars out there in this price range that can do that.
So.....who's Jeep is special enough to them to keep it FOREVER???

I had a 1987 T- type Turbo Buick that I bought new before I got married in 89. It was modded and a quite a sleeper in a straight line. Even with bad brakes, so so handling, cheap interior, uncomfortable seats, lousy stereo, etc. I loved it and (even though the wife hated it) kept it 22 years. I never considered selling it until I drove my Jeep. The Jeep does everything better (except gas mileage) has a ton more performance, comfort and "cool" and my wife loves it and loves to go out in it. Any questions? The mods continue as I type. This is definitely another long term relationship. Lol
YKPizzaGuy 06-12-2010, 08:07 AM As we speek Im on a road trip putting 3340 miles and counting on my jeep and over the years I have put a lot of miles on a lot of different cars. And after driving the jepp 25 hours in a row I have to say I feel less worn out then other cars I've done that in. And to top it off the amount of looks I get in my ride is awsome. I love having a " one of a kind" because that's what it is once you do any mods. And with paulie's hood and step and my new rims it turns heads everywhere I go. I'm not one to showboat but it is cool to drive around and see people looking with there mouth hanging open. So for me as long as there's gas to run my ride I'll be on the road and if not then it makes a great conversation starter ;).
Peace
MNBob 06-13-2010, 08:45 PM Hmm. Let me think. The Jeep tows the boat better than my 3/4 ton Suburban. The seat fits me like a glove. The sound system is awesome. And the ride is great with the new tires. And, oh yeah, it does have a little passing power.
Well, let's look at it another way. It currently has 20,000 miles. I am retired and putting on about 3-4K per year (we use our 4 cyl Accord for most trips). According to my calculations, this puts me needing a new one in about 2040!
It looks like we have another "lifer" here.
