Hi everyone, I am a new to the forum. I live in Brazil and got my silver GCsrt8 3 months ago . I believe it is the export model because it comes with the 245/45 pirelli scorpion assimetric tires front and rear. The jeep is flawless except for the tires. Those runflats are lower than the US Goodyears and make the car run lower to the ground. Chin scraches are unavoidable... I drove around 2.700 km and both front tires look like they have been driven some 20.000km or so. Both front tires have some missing rubber on the center. Very odd..... So... Does anyone getting the export model having problems with these Pirelli tires. If so, what should I do about it?
NitroCrzy 05-12-2007, 08:08 PM I have an export model too. So far the only problem other than chin scratches and unusually short tire life is trying to replace these tires with other run flats. No-one in the middle east seems to carry this size. I can find Porshe, BMW, and others that are close... none run-flats. But trying to get the same sizes are turning out to be impossible. I scrubbed off the tread on my Pirelli's to the point they need replacement badly. Yesterday I did find Goodyear F1 Supercar tires in the same size 245/45/ZR20's. But, it turns out these are not the EMT... extended mobility tires... which means non-runflat... grrrrrrr.... The wife really doesn't want me to have to go without a spare & no run-flats. So, I'm once again looking for tires.

Unusually short tire life was 2 full days of racing at the Bahrain International Circuit.

FastSRT8GC 05-12-2007, 10:44 PM Welcome. Where are you in Brasil? My wife is from Salvador. I understand why you are having problems with your tires down there. We in the states are also looking for a good alternatives to the Runflats. They suck.
Look into these. You could also go up to a 50/55 series tire rather then 45. Your ride quality will be a bit better on those bumpy roads!! But you will lose a bit of handling.

spookyrp 05-14-2007, 09:57 AM Thanks for the warm welcome:) Last week I went to the Pirellis' representative here in Brazil. After a long tire examination & a hundred of phone calls I was informed they will replace my tires for new ones at no charge. The representative also informed that they are having similar problems with these tires in the UK. Some Land Rovers are fit with these tires and are having the same problems......Well....being this a true statement... I come to the conclusion that these tires are factory defective. Tuesday they will call me up to scheduled my tire xchange:D Ops.. I forgot to mention a live in Ribeirao Preto, SP it is a city 300 km northeast of Sao Paulo. The roads here are very good indeed.

So which is better nitro using those export model Tiers or US ones Arent the 245/45 lighter than the US ones ?
spookyrp 05-14-2007, 12:47 PM I believe the US version of the GCSRT8 uses Goodyear 255/45 on front and 285/40 on back.... at least it will look nicer on those tires..... :D
NitroCrzy 05-14-2007, 11:38 PM So which is better nitro using those export model Tiers or US ones Arent the 245/45 lighter than the US ones ?
My bet is the US model is much better. I have traction issues with the Pirelli's. It might be lighter but my best 1/4 (13.213 @ 103mph) was before the tires were too far worn to be covered for road hazard warranty.
I'm very jealous spookyrp, the dealer here wouldn't even entertain that there might be an issue with these tires. I was seeing major chunks missing on all the wheels even before I took the Jeep to the track. I'm convinced they have a major issue!
NitroCrzy 05-14-2007, 11:39 PM I did the brake snorkle & fan mod hoping to hit 12's. But my times actually went up despite a better seat of the pants feel. :)

Nitro,
What thermostat are you using with the fan mod?
Bill

Stock, I should say semi-fan mod
No-one in the middle east carries anything but 195* thermostats. I'm going to have to wait until I come back to the states.
spookyrp 05-15-2007, 07:07 AM Dear Nitrocrazy, being new to the forum, I donīt have the knowledge of all terms you are talking about. For instance:brake snorkle and fan mod.
Please, explain to me what are those terms. Thanks.:)
