Congrats! In hindsight, I wish I had gone with the black finish too.
Yeah, I'm happy with the black. Notice we did all the fittings black too.
Once I relocate battery and put bwoody on, Brad has some other ideas that will really make the under hood POP. :D

 oh boyyy
Haha, If I don't want to continue college, sure.. lol
Somewhere down the road, I plan on building up the bottom and rear end. First I need to make all this last a good while.
hawkman996 06-05-2010, 06:57 PM I guess the secret is out now! haha Although most of us already knew Johnny.
Yet another sweet jeep. I think you will be skipping the 12's my friend unless you spin bad off the line with all the extra torque. ;)

Haha, well it is. Yeah, I told most of the guys that I speak to regularly!
I hope it runs strong! I'd be shocked to skip the 12's! I'll make sure I pick a nice and cool night to go and show up early to cool down.
btw Dave, I may drive it down to Florida in July instead of coming down this month... Keep ya posted!

July might work better as I would not be able to do much this month anyhow since I am BROKE!!!!
I hope all my buddies will be buying me beers on my birthday on the 16th otherwise it is going to a sober night! hahaha
Either way this time when your down here I want to hang out at least once bud.

I'll keep you posted...
SrtJake 06-05-2010, 08:27 PM Yeah that is sweet for sure..makes me feel like such a "normie" with a Vortech.Lol!
How much boost and what kinda power and times are we expecting?!
BOYCHIKS 06-05-2010, 08:45 PM Yeah that is sweet for sure..makes me feel like such a "normie" with a Vortech.Lol!
How much boost and what kinda power and times are we expecting?!
LOL, I just don't like the look of the vortech.. Nothing against it and the power it puts out. Plus a lot of people have it.
Going to keep it safe with around 7lb boost; shooting for somewhere around 510 from an email tune (that is safe too)... Dyno tune will come in the next month or tune.
SrtJake 06-05-2010, 08:48 PM If you don't mind my asking,is the price for the Whipple comparable to the Vortech?Yeah,I would much rather the sounds of yours over mine. Not that I don't like the sound of mine, just like a Whipple more.
510?All wheel,or rear wheel?

510?All wheel,or rear wheel?
I think the whipples retail price is $7295 for the complete kit; some vendors can get it for you cheaper.
I did not buy mine from a vendor, but from a PWR customer who bought it, bolted on, and decided to go a different route.
510ish will be all wheel.

First, congrats on the Whipple, I have seen and helped
with a couple of these installs. You will enjoy it, King James made
475 all wheel on 10 or 11 pounds of boost on a stock
bottom end. 7lbs may not get you where you think you
should be. Enjoy!!! Its never enough!!
yungsrt 06-06-2010, 01:56 AM Whipple SC are nice.
i know's who jeep it is and i have only been around for about 5 months love his videos and pictures. can't wait to see this supercharger in action good luck looks great

He made 530AWHP at the higher boost level and 475 now that he lowered it back down.
Hey Jeremy, how's it going? The jeep is doing great, Its my DD and is holding up really well, as a matter of fact I've got 10k miles since the install and not a single problem!! I had a new intake made and tweaked the tune and she put 530 to the wheels!! Way more than I was expecting. Thanks again for your help. Jim
This CAI is supposed to be temporary, but I think it looks awesome. The shorter the path, the smaller the restriction.

Yeah, how does it run?!
Hopefully we can get the tune right tomorrow, I miss the jeep :(
Chris Hull@TTC 06-06-2010, 08:43 PM PM King James about the CAI, he had a great solution!! I saw it at
the CT meet.

BOYCHIKS 06-06-2010, 08:49 PM ^^ We are going to modify my bwoody once I move the battery. We did that above solution for the time being to get it running right.
I like Kingjames, but do not like the weld marks and would like a one piece to make it look much cleaner.
But the bwoody would go exactly how KJ has his.

BOYCHIKS 06-12-2010, 04:08 PM AWESOME JOHNNY!!!!!
Glad she is up and running now. How is the throttle response with PD blower?
Enjoy it bud :D
Me too! Throttle response is a bit better. If you drive with a realllllyyy light foot, it drives like stock and can't hear the SC; but slightly more or up a hill, the boost kicks in and you hear that thing roar !!
You gotta be here in person Dave!
boostdacr 06-12-2010, 07:47 PM Next time I see you, take me for a ride lol

BOYCHIKS 06-12-2010, 09:29 PM Nice run, but I thought it would run just a little quicker.
I think we all did :boohoo:
Weather was about 91 degrees at that run.
Off the top of my head, 60" was 1.7, 1/8 @ 7.89, and mph @ 109.68
lchevere 06-13-2010, 06:32 AM Good run Johhny don't worry you will get that time lower.
kingjames 06-13-2010, 08:41 AM Glad too see you up and running! First off, hats off to you for posting that run, not too far off in that heat.Make sure your adj. Bypass valve is all the way opened.I'm running 6 psi and made 440 rwhp that's with the kooks and ideal conditions. That air intake needs changed and some tuneing you'll be there.
Knuckles 06-13-2010, 11:53 AM Very nice Johnny!! So what did your Beast put down on the Dyno bro?
Grip Grip 06-13-2010, 12:00 PM Are you sure you ran 109 mph in the 1/8th?
BOYCHIKS 06-13-2010, 12:12 PM Good run Johhny don't worry you will get that time lower.
Thanks Luis, oh I know. That is still pretty strong to be the first run with the whipple in that heat. May head up to Cecil with the big boys on 23rd

Thanks, I am glad myself!! It is a whole different car and is too sick! Love the sound. Yeah, I actually didn't want to post the run because I was expecting a 12.2 to be the slowest, and around an 11.75 best.. Next time/
I am happy now with my dyno pulls, because I thought on 6lb you were running 480+ rwhp. We managed to get to 447 rwhp.
Air intake will be changed soon I hope, just need to find time and relocate battery!
Very nice Johnny!! So what did your Beast put down on the Dyno bro?
Thanks Jose.
The last 3 pulls of the 15 we did were of course the best.
Pull 13 was 447 max power and 432 torque.
Pull 14 was 438 max power and 434 torque.
Pull 15 was 444 max power and 435 torque.
I'll scan the graphs soon.
Are you sure you ran 109 mph in the 1/8th?
Just because I didn't run 11's doesn't mean you need to give me a hard time.
Here is the slip:
60' 1.70
330 5.09
1/8 7.94
mph 86
1000 10.4
1/4 12.48
mph 109.7
Knuckles 06-13-2010, 12:50 PM Thanks Johnny!! I definitely think your Jeep has more in it bro. Looks like you are trying to play it safe on the boost by running 6 PSI and making it safe for your tranny as well. With that horsepower I estimate at least a 12.1 to 12. in the quarter bro.
King Motorsports 06-13-2010, 02:06 PM Wait for a cooler night, then beat the crap out of it. It will get there.
Grip Grip 06-13-2010, 02:07 PM Oops, I forgot to put a wink on there so you would know I was kidding around. My bad. :)
I was messing with you because you wrote that you hit 109 in the 1/8. :)
m4xm1l10n 06-13-2010, 03:05 PM Johnny is the man !!!!!!!!!!!!! Congrats man
Muellge 06-13-2010, 05:20 PM hats off for hitting the track and posting your first runs versus months of clouded mystery when times aren't optimal. Work makes the good runs more fun. You'll be dropping a few more tenths soon and then priming your main lines (veins) for bigger pulleys. Great to see it running. We got that 109 was the 1/4 trap. start slow, add some timing, and your stuff will keep dropping.
af_maineiac 06-13-2010, 07:53 PM Great video Johnny! LOVE the sound of that Whipple... and the hood looks killer as well! I know you were really hoping to leapfrog into the 11s, but at least you understand you weren't running under prime conditions - I'm sure you'll be posting better times once the temps cool down some.
The funny thing is, just when you thought you were done with modding your rig, by now you realize there's always going to be something you'll want to do in order to shave a few more tenths off your times. Addictive, isn't it? :D
.
Vinnysrt8 06-13-2010, 07:58 PM nice run johnny i love the whipple sound and the look
Chris Hull@TTC 06-13-2010, 09:07 PM Nice Johnny!! My only question is how much air was in your rear tire?
To me it looked like the rim was on the ground!! I was pushing the same
power with heads and cam and ran 12.75!! Enjoy the ride, its gets better

SRT8-KSA 06-14-2010, 11:05 PM Sounds mean ;)
mklaus 06-15-2010, 02:25 PM Beach this weekend!
The air/fuel is in the 11's, timing is 15 degrees and below, and boost is pretty low IMO. Just for clarification, there was a 426 stroked Jeep there that was stuck in the 12.3's so his 12.4 is pretty dang good if you ask me.
Johnny, The longer the CAI, the more restrictive it will be. Try breathing through a 2" long straw and then try breathing through a 10" long straw and there will be more of a restriction. If you like the looks of it, leave the CAI as it is. Also, a longer CAI is just more surface area to absorb heat. I would consider an ice box for use at the track with your water/air intercooler. I would also up the boost to 8psi or more and leave the timing at 15 degrees and air/fuel at around 11.5:1. Thats still plenty safe and will make a good bit more power. That Jeep will run 11's with better air and a little more seat time. Another option is to run race gas at the track with 20 degrees of timing for another 30-40rwhp.
Knuckles 06-17-2010, 10:19 AM Hey Johnny! Just curious to see what the Torque curve on the Whipple looks like! Have you scanned the Dyno sheet yet?
Thanks bro!
BOYCHIKS 06-17-2010, 11:43 AM Hey Johnny! Just curious to see what the Torque curve on the Whipple looks like! Have you scanned the Dyno sheet yet?
Thanks bro!
Yeah, I've been meaning to do this. I will scan them now and post later!
Knuckles 06-17-2010, 11:51 AM Yeah, I've been meaning to do this. I will scan them now and post later!
Thanks Johnny! You the man!!
Tmedlin 06-17-2010, 12:55 PM WOW man 12.4 is only the beginning. I would be more than satisfied with where you are considered your jeep is not fully dialed in yet. You will get 11s in due time. Keep up the good work!
BOYCHIKS 06-17-2010, 01:25 PM Chart:
http://i667.photobucket.com/albums/vv36/BOYCHIKS/Whipple/sc0034c351.jpg
Chris@LPM 06-17-2010, 01:35 PM Wow that is sweet looking. Very nice Johnny.
Here is his dyno overlayed with a bone stock SRT8 Jeep for comparison.
http://i861.photobucket.com/albums/ab175/PW-Racing/Dyno/Johnny.jpg
2750rpm: 50rwhp/95rwtq
3500rpm: 73rwhp/110rwtq
4250rpm: 75rwhp/90rwtq
5000rpm: 70rwhp/70rwtq
5750rpm: 82rwhp/70rwtq
5900rpm: 80rwhp/70rwtq
Thats the gain throughout the rpm band. The kenne bell kits run 20 degrees of timing, Johnny only has 15 degrees. With an additional 5 degrees of timing, he would see another 20rwhp or more and easily hit 100rwhp. I would recomend leaving it as is for now and not adding timing unless your prepared for the possibility of blowing the motor. Not trying to scare anyone, but more timing means more heat and greater risk of detonation.
Knuckles 06-17-2010, 04:08 PM Thanks Johnny just wanted to see that torque curve and how it compares to the 2.8 Kenny Bell twin screw. So to the looks of it you should be able to light up the tires pretty easily then. Man that is an impressive torque curve there!!! Wish the Vortech Torque curve looked like that.
BOYCHIKS 06-17-2010, 11:36 PM Thanks for posting the comparison Andy!!
Yeah, you, Brad, and Dave all know that this jeep needs to be safe and last; most likely will be staying the way it is now for a while.
