: Roadside repair solutions

I will be going on a long road trip soon with long trips in between civilization, so I need some roadside repair solutions.

Only thing I can really come up with is some fix a flat and a compressor.

A spare is not a viable option, and I do not have the run-flats anymore.

Does anyone have any other solutions, or any recommendations for a good compressor (bought a $20 one from walmart that fried).

Thanks

-Mike

AAA..... if you have a blowout while your driving it's probably not going to be able to be repaired. Only ting fix a flat is going to do is fix a puncture and hose up your TPS

Ive got that thru my insurance company, nothing would fix a roadside blowout besides a spare.

I'm looking to fix a nail or small hole, and get some air back in the tire.

I am looking for input on this as well. What tire repair kits are others using who have gone away from the run flats?

this is what I've seen most guys carry (and I have it as well, along with a plug kit). Most autopart stores have it and its safe for TPS.

or heres a more complete kit with case

The Charger SRTs come with a compressor/tire slime combo. Maybe see if you can pick one of those up?

Which reminds me, I have to return yours. :D

The complete kit posted by colt looks good. DCspecial just bought it. It comes with plugs and a better compressor.

I bought this at Auto Zone:

The case it comes in has velcro on the back that sticks to the back of the rear seat.

I like the above kit but if at all possible do not use that fix a flat I hear is can wreak havoc on the tire pressure sensor guages and make the inside of the rim pretty nasty, try plugging the hole when possible. I know skye carried a plug kit and 12V air compressor that had a flashlight built into it and a safety yellow flashing bulb. Also would hurt to keep a Gallon jug of distilled water and a small tool set.

Yeah, I don't plan on using the slime with the kit I got. I'm not a fan of that stuff.

You should really try to carry a spare. I drive alot and have probably had 20 or so blow outs, I think 1 was able to be repaired. All the other times the tire was damaged beyond repair. If you hit something at 80 chances are the tire isn't just going to go flat and have some small hole, it will be a rip in the sidewall or something.
