Hey everybody, I finally get my jeep tomorrow! I'm so stoked it's unbelievable. Anyways, I've got a JL Audio W7 with a box specifically designed for the subwoofer and a JL 500/1 amp just lying around the house from my previous ride. I want to install these items as soon as possible, but would really like to do so only if I don't have to Dynamat the whole car. Am I going to have any trouble with rattling in the car that I'll be able to fix? And if so, where will it be located? I'd really like to get all this information beforehand if possible, before I go through the trouble of putting all of this into my jeep just to get an annoying rattle that is going to drive me nuts all of the time. Thanks a lot guys. :)

Not sure of the comparison but I have a kicker 10" with a sony 1200 watt amp that hits nicely and no rattles. Not even outside with it cranked. Seems like a solid build so far.

Ill tell you in a week or two!!!!

13W7 ported with 1000w RMS

Should make a few things rattle!!!!!

I on the other hand am going to install the system first and tackle the rattles as they come. I already have a crapload of acoustical foam.....that should quiet the plastics and road nois down a little.

My last car I wasted a ton of dynamat in areas that I thought were gonna rattle. I sooon realized that it should have gone to other places...

Tips: Dynamat deadens by a few methods but the biggest one is adding weight to a panel. So why deaden in places where you are already adding weight like under a sub enclosure.

Deadening the spots where your midbass speakers will make a very big impact on the output of the speaker.

a rock solid baffle will give rock solid performance.

To stiffen things without adding a ton of weight, find the weakspots and tackle them. Adding ridges to flat panels can work wonders.

Last but not least.....Order some ensolite from Raamat or Volara foam from foambymail.com like I did. After everythings deadened, add a couple layers with sprayglue. WHY? for one it absorbs sound which is a good thing, two, it decouples the panel from another panel(plastics from door metal), Three- it doesnt absorb water which is a very good thing for the inside of a door,

Last very important use for the foam, This is very important for me. Dynamat extreme has a rubber backing. When hot the rubber gets sticky and if you touch it it gets everywhere. The foam is a layer to keep the dynamat from getting on your hands and ultimately keeping it away from the grey leather and suede.

So thats it...

10w6v2's x3 with a 1000/1. Yes it will rattle. I Dynamat'd the entire rear hatch area including the lift gate. That has helped. I would like to do the entire vehilce but thost panels are such a PITA to remove.
