: Question regarding engine temperature?

The last few times I've driven my '10 with only 700+ miles I've noticed that the digital engine temperature will get up to 222 degrees or so.

This is while only driving maybe 15-20 miles.

However the guage never gets to 215.

Which is more correct? If it is indeed running 222 with these short trips is there anything that I need to be concerned with?

Any help would be appreciated.

I believe that's the engine oil temp.

Yeah I don't recall ever seeing a digital readout of water temp in my 2010.

Ahh so it's just the engine oil temp and oil pressure in the 'EVIC'?

Bc I remember reading in one of the SRT chats that the Engine runs fine @ 216 degrees.

My mistake. I just really haven't had the time to get familiar with it since I don't drive it all that much.

Do most install a 180 degree thermostat on the Jeeps? Due to losing performance from hotter operating temeratures. I've got one in my '10 Challenger Classic as well as both my 70's muslce cars.

Thanks

Yeah I think most have gone with a 180. I still haven't because mine seems to run cooler than the others. It stays at 200 all the time, even after 12 hot laps. However it hasn't seen a summer and a/c running yet. I'm going to try changing the fan settings first. If that doesn't work, I'll be going the 180 route too.

correct the EVIC displays oil temp and press and the needle guage is water temp.

180 tstat is a very popular modd.

If you go with the 180* t-stat, you may want to pick up a stant radiator cap. Coolant spray is more the norm than the exception for some reason. To get the most out of the 180*, you'll need a predator to adjust the fans too.

Bump

This will drop your oil and water temps 10-15* or more.
