It will give an idea , but not as accurate as the track , As far as slowing down with the Canned tune , it couldn't of been the weather conditions slowing you down , believe me DA Can change in minutes and make you run slow as i learn that this past weekend at the track :D

At the track mine was off .02, so say I ran a 13.3 on it the time slip said 13.28. So not that far off. Itdoesnt do hundredths or thousandths, so thats as bout as inacurate as I saw. I won a heat using it! Oops did I say that out loud?

I checked mine once to see how accurate it was. It said 14.5 @ 95.6. Timeslip said 14.478 @ 94.95. That's the only one I wrote down, but I've seen it off a tenth or more on other runs. It's based off your speedometer, so unless you've had yours calibrated it'll never be very accurate.

Guys remember the fatory built in 1/4 timer is based off the speedo and the track mph is an AVG of the 1/8 or 1/4 mile NOT SPEEDO MPH.

The ET on the EVIC is fairly close -- if anything it's like .02 off either way so a 12.9 was 12.891 for example. The MPH is always off because as Jim said it works off the speedo while the track is just a timed event the last 100' or so.

The time is based off the speedo as well.
