I was looking through my paperwork for the extended warranty while the dealer hit me with. It has a 100.00 for 7/70000. It cost an additional 3000.00 . I am still able to refund it 100%, do any of you guys have it and is it worth keeping?

My $0.02 tells me that this is the first production year of this truck and it makes sense to cover yourself. If you blow a transfercase or some other driveline part out of warranty, the $3,000 is going to be a drop in the bucket.

But if you intend to modify your truck with aftermarket parts, you may void the warranty and lose the 3,000.00

The answer lies in your intentions for the truck.

Yes I have the same warranty and I'm going to keep it (but your dealer could have helped you on that price).

These are just my personal feelings and I'm not saying that you shouldn't get an extended warranty but I never buy them. Many years ago I started adding up all the money I paid for warranties that I never needed to use and I could have bought a couple of cars with it. The bottom line is that the money I have saved over time will more than replace a transmission, engine or whatever IF I ever need to. Besides, in my experience, any major problems with a car, appliance, etc. will usually surface before the normal warranty expires. I also hardly ever keep a car for more than three or four years. Plus, although I don't plan to modify this Jeep, I tend to make performance modifications on my cars and trucks that void the warranty anyway. So, take it for what it's worth.

I got an aftermarket extended warranty on my 98 GC 5.9 Limited and basically broke even. The warranty cost about $800 and I had a front suspension repair for about $800. Also had a 91 Ford Explorer that blew the transmission and got that replaced under the extended warranty. That would have hurt bad without the warranty.
