So there was some chat in another thread about fabrication of a grille similar to what is in my signature.

any ideas of how this could done / anyone willing to take on the task.

I of course photoshop'd this one. But this is only because I don't have a real one. But indeed do want one. I'm rambling now.

But seriously how hard of a task would this be?

Don't get me wrong Maxx, I like the billet look. However, I think our grille the way it is, stands out from the rest of the pack. Our front fascia is mean looking. Ever notice how everyone turns to check you out as you enter places? Everyone and their mother has a billet grille! Everyone! Maybe change yours to Racemesh or a DIY? Just my two cents of course, but I still would like to see one done just for the heck of it.

Touche!

hmm perhaps to just standout form other jeepers then. but i do see your point.

However, I would still like to give it a shot, or see someone else give it a shot

I'm sure there is going to be a lot of cool custom stuff being done to our rigs as well as a lot of cool mods (programmer hopefully) in the near future. I have no doubt that someone is going to do a billet grille though.

I have another Idea'r (Paul Tuttle Sr) in mind.

It will take some time but will be Totally- Absolutely-Insanely-Titts!

Just gotta get it started.

Heres a hint....Going back to my mini truckin days. I once had a very sinister looking mini!!!

Thats all I can give you!

As a metal worker and fiberglass and molding guy, That grill would not be very difficult at all....especially considering that the grill can be removed completely from the jeep.....I could do it but it would have to be chrome. I dont have any Tig welding equipment to do billet.

I'll be honest.... I'm not a huge billet fan, because about 3 years ago it's all you saw. Now I think mesh is more popular. But that rendering you have done has me sold. I's switch to that in a heartbeat if the curve of the grill matched the front of the ride. That big of an area needs to fit, line-wise. But if it's doen right, I'd be happy to give up the 7 teeth up front.

Id accept chrome. It would go well with the lower fascia's chrome lip anyow I reckon.

I'd donate at least a tooth to the cause.

Hmm?
Mesh you say?

I once saw this Expedition in a magazine that had the single most sick custom grill I have ever seen. It was made using blades that were cut out of metal and then welded at different angles...I wish I could find that pic. I have been looking out for it for like a year and a half.

But my Idea could be used with billet or mesh...Mesh would be easier.

You should look at the styles, and materials that Strutt makes. They look insane. Something similar would be a start in the right direction!

I'm up for new ideas, but I'd prefer a more "Jeep-like" grill(I know I'm an odd one). The rendering reminds me of a Ford/GMC look. I would think for the right $$ a good body shop that does fab work could make something similar. JMO.

I agree it does look great, but really takes away from the JEEP look.
Looking like that it could be just any run of the mill grocery getter
wagon going down the street.
But you see thoes seven teeth comming at ya, you know it has to be a JEEP

JMHO

might as well hollar at everyone who debadged their rides while we're at it!

Taking off the word "jeep" on the front and back. Sheesh how can anyone tell what you're in  :p

input is always good of course. I am still interested. Perhaps I will scope out some shops around my area.

I was going to lower it, put 22s on, cady vents up front, headlight covers, and a 2 tone paint job.....but then I decided no one would know it was a jeep right?

I of course am the most light hearted individual ever, and just like to joke around.

I must have missed the "hollaring"? Isn't it opinions you were looking for? IMO, debadging(which isn't the topic here) isn't for me, but what other do to there vehicle doesn't effect me. I'm a rare "brand-loyalist" who likes badging. IMO, w/o the Jeep "verticle bars" the grill looks like a Ford/etc.

I still cant find where anyone was bagging on debadging?

Not sure where this came from. IMO, check Strut sidevents. http://www.strutwear.com/detroit.html

You shouldn't let other opinions bother you so much. You should do what makes you happy. :)
