Will a CMR tune allow me to redline in first instead of shifting at 5500 ish like it does now? I am using a canned tune now.
I have a 2007.

Try putting the Jeep in manual stick mode and see what happens.

Did you try driving it in auto-stick first? Shifts a little higher that way.

At times if i leave mine in drive it will short shift at 5500 on the 1/2 shift but never in manual mode as it always shifts at 5900.

With my CMR, in manual mode, shifts happen at 6200 in 1st, 6k from there on out.

According to my datalogs.... I shift 1-2 at 6050, 2-3 and up at 6250. I leave it in auto-stick and let it shift itself. Running it in D will always short shift 1-2.

the autostick in manual mode I believe always short shifts first a little by comparison but I've never actually floored it while in drive so no comparisson

OK so I admit I have not tried it so let me ask. If you put the truck in "1" autostick and then gun it without touching the stick, it will still shift for you? I just assumed it would bounce off the rev limiter?

With a CMR tune you can adjust your rev limiter.:) Predator needed.

how did you put ur canned tune in? predator or trinity will allow you to move rev limits in drive and neutral. also speed limits.

I know the predator can change shift points/rev limits, my question is about driving it in autostick, but not shifting. Sounds like people are saying it will still shift for you. I though it would just stay in the same gear and bounce of the limiter.

My 09 definitely auto upshifts in Autostick mode. I've seen it look like this in a datalog using auto-stick mode:

1-2 -> 6231 @ 38 mph
2-3 -> 6243 @ 64 mph
3-4 -> 6232 @ 99.5 mph

(what sucks is being at 4658 @ 104.5 mph crossing the 1/4 marker!).

i guess it depends on what year you have. i know my 06' doesnt. i've had it in autostck before and forgotten about it pulling up to a light. take off and it just over revs. it downshifts as i slow down, but no upshifting. maybe for new years it may. not sure.

You need to go and get a TCM update so that it can do it for you. Normally if you are out of warranty they will charge about 90 bucks for 1 hour of labor even tho it only probably take s like 15 minutes to do. Well worth it I think.

I will try leaving it in manual mode and just let it shift itself automatically. It sounds like that is the way to get it to go higher. It seems one would get a little better quarter mile time that way. Thanks.

i went to dealer last week in santa fe, nm to have my t-case checked out cuz i got "service 4wd system" on the way up there. they said everything was up to date except my sunroof!? why the hell would i need a sunroof update?? better yet, is there a TCM update that they didnt see or mention or dont know about?

I'll have to check on my 08 because I thought I remembered being autostick and forgetting to shift and it bounced the limiter... Thanks for the info though.

I second that, I have a canned tune and my car shift barely above 6100 in 1st in D. The rest are also very close to 6k

You can not change shift point on the Jeeps with a Pred/Trinity. You can raise the rev limiter all you want too... it doesn't do anything for the shifting. The TCM's are set to shift at a certain point... has nothing to do with what the REV limiter is. Only LX's can change their shift points with a Pred/Trinity.

Here's what you need done.

This is an old TSB and as you see it is only applicable to 06's. Well worth it in my opinion. Many may doubt it, but mine shifts somewhere between 5900-6200 now. No more rev limiter bounce. I have no tune and a stock motor.

See if this number is on your repair order. Might have been this "flash" for 06 & 07 models.

Well, I tried 1st gear in manual mode and it still shifts at 5,500. Weak!
Does anyone know if a CMR tune can adjust the shift point a bit higher? I know the canned tune does nothing to solve this.

I dont know, but I think it is in the TCM. I have an '07, but I had 2 TCM's replaced so the current one might have newer firmware in it... I do know that with my Predator pre-canned tune it would also shift at ~ 6100 or slightly above.
I went to a Johan tune and I think it shifts higher or the same now (cant tell exactly where the needle is while trying to launch but it seems like between 6100 and 6200 for me).

How do I contact Johan? That is funny because my name is Johann. (pronouned yohon)

Is he the person I should use for a CRM tune? I don't have many mods. I live at 550ft elevation but it gets 110 in the summer and we only have 91 octane in CA.

PM diablotoona.

550 ft is no problem. He made my buggy scream and I'm at 6000 ft and 91 octane...

To close the loop I tried this in my 08 and it does shift for you even if you are in autostick and you ignore it... at least I answered that question.
