: Air/Fuel Gauges
YYCSRT8 05-13-2010, 01:40 PM Time for me to get an AFR gauge. Anyone have any experience with either of these? I really like the look of the needle and think it would be a little easier to look at. Any particular reason why the digital version may be a better choice?
Thanks in advance.

CentralTexHemi 05-13-2010, 02:06 PM I've had the one on top on my past vehicle and trust me you want digital so you not starring at the needle guage counting the lines to get the .?? reading and run into something plus the digital is much easier to read.
Knuckles 05-13-2010, 02:11 PM Yup I have the Innovate XD-16 with the LC1 wideband and Love it! No complaints from this product at all and it was a real easy install and worked on the first shot for me. Like Wade said you don't want Analog as it would be hard to read. I also have mine connected to the Tribity and it works like a charm, so that I can log AFR in my datalogs.
YYCSRT8 05-13-2010, 02:46 PM Thanks guys. Makes sense to go with the digital I guess.
Wade, any reason you moved away from the Innovate product and into an AEM?
Joe Las Vegas 05-13-2010, 03:07 PM How about the DynoJet Wideband 2 (http://www.dynojetwb2.com/wb2_products.aspx), anybody has experience with it?
Knuckles: how do you connect it to the Trinity?

Do know of anyone with the Dyno Jet wideband man, I think Wink was possibly buying one. Not 100% sure tho. My bad Wink was looking at a different one bro.
To connect any wide band to teh Tribity you have to buy a 2.5 mm male cable (6ft) with pig tails at the end. Then all you do is connect the output of the wideband, which should be a 0 to 5v DC output to the cable and then you ground the cable to the same ground you are using on your wideband as well so that there is no difference in ground potential. Then once its all connected you connect the 2.5mm jack into the trinity and configure the analog input that you used in the Trinity and your basically good to go.

Yeah I was looking at the FAST unit, but you talked me out of it bro. ;) When I can spare the money I'll sell my Predator, get a Trinity, and the sensor cable thingy.
wink

Yeah thats the unit! Altho this Dynojet wideband looks pretty nice too! Cool Wink!
Joe Las Vegas 05-13-2010, 04:28 PM Any other brands that work well and don't cost a fortune?
I don't know jack about wideband A/F ratio units, all I know is that it's the only true way to get the real A/F reading, so that a CMR tune can be dialed in properly.
I also kind of know how to install it, you need to make a hole in the exhaust pipe to screw in the sensor and connect everything to the gauge, that's about all I know, I have no experience with this stuff.

There are many brand out there, but the nice ones cost anywhere from 299 to 500.00 bucks for a single bung or dual bung. I know people on here have used AEM, Innovate, Autometer, PLX Devices, Glo Shift, Dynojet Wideband2, FAST, Aeroforce Gauges, and Zeitronix who makes some nice stuff.
CentralTexHemi 05-13-2010, 08:41 PM Mainly cost, I bought the AEM for ease of installation and it was rated just below the XD-16 plus I was not going to datalog with the AEM. The XD-16 is a little more complicated to install, there is a little plug on one of the lines and if you lose it during install your in trouble. You also have to do a free air calibration before putting the 02 sensor into the bung with the Innovate, the AEM you dont have to do that. NOW on the other hand the AEM UEGO is plagued with issues, so many that on their forum there were so many complaints about the sensor going bad they delete all reference to it...yeah and their customer service is HORRIBLE.
