Maybe your park assist needs to get it's eyes checked, possibly some contact lenses are needed.

A lot of messages like this are fleeting computer hiccups. Usually a few "good cycles" (trips with no error) will clear any false error messages. If the message persists, or clears for awhile then recurs, I would see the dealer. Even if it clears and does not recur, you may want to mention it to your service writer at your next dealer visit and get it entered in your records for future reference.

I was just driving along yesterday and the dash cluster beeped and displayed "Service park assist system". The message then went away and when I backed into my garage about 30 seconds later park assist worked fine. Weird.

Same thing happened on mine. I believe it maybe due to dust/dirt build-up on the sensor, as after wiping them off, I had no further issues. I am going in for my 1st oil change on Thursday and plan on mentioning this to the technician.
hope this helps

on my last grand cherokee 2005 the beep sounded about the same time as you hit actually 18 inches of warning how much warning on srt can distance be adjusted
try cleaning the "eyes" the manual recommends this if failure occurs. yes I did read the owners manual, I know that is sad.
