What is your point of view on this?

Watched a feature about GPS tracking devices on TV. The basic idea is that in the case of a high-jack or theft of your beast, the car will text his current location.

Has anyone any experience with this device?

If so, could you please point me to a product, as I'm living in Germany, driving an American car, I need your input on this (my stealership doesn't know anything about such a device). Thanks in advance.

Google "GPS Vehicle Tracking Devices" or click HERE (http://lmgtfy.com/?q=GPS+vehicle+tracking+devices).

I don't know about the units that text you it's location, but it's the same thing that police/fire/EMT use to keep track of their vehicles, as well as companies with fleet vehicles; cable company, construction companies, etc.

I can tell you that there are some that hold a USB flash drive and at the end of the day you can remove it an plug it into your computer and pull it up on the GPS device's software and track where the vehicle as been, average speed, etc. I've seen a couple that have iPhone applications where you can pull up live maps to see where the vehicle is and where it's headed, vehicle speed, etc.Others can give live updates on your computer and can email updates when the vehicle goes to a certain area/place, or exceeds a preset speed. Be aware though that some require subscriptions for the GPS service.

There are tons of different types, with different sizes, battery, features, etc. Your best bet is to just google it, look around, see what's out there, when you find two or three that interest you, google some reviews for that product, example:
