hey there, I am trying to get a muffler only system for my jeep SRT8. I don't wanna spend the money on the cat-back exhaust, is there anything out there that I can just replace the mufflers and have awesome sound? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!!!

Your best bet is to find a local shop that will mount a few types for you so you can hear the difference. Once you decide the type they will weld it up and your on your way.

But most shops youwill have to know what you want and they will cut out the factory and install yours.

I have this one on mine.

Dynomax X-Flow (http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=WLK%2D17554&N=700+4294923429+400358+4294922710+4294922711+4294 906128+4294791977+4294903588+115&autoview=sku)

I also removed the stock resonators & replaced them with 3" in/out Dynomax Race Magnum bullet mufflers. My system would probably be too loud for a lot of people but I like it. If you retain the stock resonators, you SHOULD come away with a deeper tone & a slight increase in performance.
The shop that installs the muffler will need to do some fabricating & welding. The headpipe is a double-wall pipe & it will rattle after it is cut unless the ends of the inner & outer pipe are tacked together.

Dynomax X-flow muffler with 2 Dynomax Race Magnum bullet mufflers as resonators (http://2turbos4.home.insightbb.com/Mic5ft back.wav)

I hope this works.

There is some popping noise that wasn't in the original recording. I have NO idea what the h3ll it is. It took a couple of different tries to get it to upload...I must have picked up some garbage along the way.

yes, that sounds awesome. I am going to order that stuff tomorrow. Thanks alot for your help. Is there anything else I should know about this exhaust? Someone was saying we had to tack the inner peice to the outer peice so there is no rattling?

The pipe from the exhaust manifold to the muffler is double-walled. When it's cut, which my installer did about 1 or 2 inches before the oem muffler, the inner & outer pipes of the double-walled pipe may develop a "rattle" if they aren't tacked together at the cut.

My exhaust uses most of the original SS piping except where it was necessary to "re-route" the rear pipes to eliminate the S bends of the oem resonators. Mine now looks more like the Zoomer's system.

Those bullet mufflers, that I used for resonators, are a 4" OD casing. I purchased 2 BIGA$$ polished SS tips....4" ID inlet/5" ID outlet. The tips slip over the OD of the bullet muffler & the 5" outlet fills exhaust cutout opening like it should be filled.:D I'll try to get a few pics tomorrow of the whole system.

Here's a few pics of the exhaust. It's not shiny since it consists of oem SS & aluminized steel but it sounds good & I only have about $350 invested(including installation).:)

ps. And yes, Virginia....it DOES drone at about 1800 - 2000 rpm. Luckily, it doesn't bother me since I'd rather listen to the sounds of the vehicle much more than the stereo system any day.
